whats the difference (apart from the cam) between the nx70 and the nx80. Im gonna buy one but if its just the camera, then ill get a nx70 (its about £120 cheaper on ebay) so really my question is: is the nx80 worth the extra cash.

There are several differences. Among them are:

* As you pointed out, the NX80 has a higer res camera. It also has a light which you can use to take pictures in darker places.

* The keyboards are different. The NX80's keyboard will light up when you use it. Some prefer the NX70 keyboard (has more of a "feel" to it), some prefer to NX80's.

* The NX80 comes with Decuma.

* I believe the NX80 has more RAM.

* When not using the CF slot on the NX80, it folds back into the device.

* The NX80 has the 4 hard keys (but not the arrow keys) when in tablet mode. The NX70 does not.

The list goes on...

Your bottom line question depends on what you value. To me, £120 seems like a big difference if you don't much care about the above things. I have an NX73 (which is the NX80 with less memory and a lesser camera/no light) and felt that (when I bought it) it was worth the difference in price from an NX70.

The following are the clamshell models:

NR70 - First clamshell model, OS 4
NR70V - Same as NR70, but with a camera
NX60 - First OS 5 model, no camera
NX70 - Same as NX60, but with a camera
NX73 - Restyled OS 5 model (Decuma, new keyboard, fold-in CF slot, built-in support for CF flash memory cards), Bluetooth (Europe only)
NX80 - Same as NX73, but with better camera, more memory, no BT
UX series (I'll skip these unless you want info on them)

Does that help? Personally, I would skip the NR series, since it's not OS 5. You'll find some stuff doesn't run on it.

On the other hand, the NX70 comes with Graffiti 1, while the NX80 comes with Graffiti 2. The NX80, I think, comes with a folding stylus. I tried my sister's NX73 folding stylus--I assume the same as the NX80's--and didn't like it.

The NX80 has built-in CF support (but not for mp3, etc.) The NX70 requires you to purchase a CF driver ($12, I think) if you want to use CF storage (but it is supposed to support mp3, etc.) On the other hand, if you are going to use CF storage all the time, you don't want the NX80's retractable slot. (I've seen reports of breakage.)

The NX80, it is reported, has a much brighter screen and better battery life.

The difference in keyboards is, I think, that the NX70's keys stick out, while the NX80's are more or less flush (or at least the NX73's are). If you're going to type in complete darkness, you want the NX80. For typing in daytime, I think the NX70 is better.
