Hopefully some online retailers will have them cheaper, and the patch for the NX/NZ will come qucikly.

That is good news... the coming availability, that is. The price tag is bad news. I wonder how the speed of the Memory Stick Pro will compare to Compact Flash. We may be better off with the CF drivers and CF cards as they are significantly cheaper, byte for byte.

The price is steep but is already cheaper than originally expected.  One must wonder if the news of cf drivers in April had anything to do with the early release and the drop in price.  By June flash memory options for the nx/nz may be reasonable.

Yes, that is good news! The prices are coming down, and probably come down even further. My WiFi card is pretty much dedication to the CF slot, so this will help.

Forgive my naivete, but what is the benefit of a compact flash card? What is different between CF and regular memory sticks?

Ummm... as previously discussed, the price of CF modules is considerably better. Also, it would enable people to use one of those really cool IBM Microdrives. In general, it just increases the flexibility of the unit by giving you two places to have memory, if the other slot is taken up by a hardware device.

The WiFi card hasn't left the slot of my NX70V since purchase (I use it extensively). That 512MB MS PRO stick is mine.

BTW, MS PRO is up to 4-5 times faster than the fastest CF cards. And a full ten times faster than the $250 1GB Sandisk CF card that everyone likes to bring up.

Prices will come down, a bigger MS is what I really want. My WiFi card is dedicated in the CF slot. Constant removal and insertion is no good for longevity. School is still out on the Microdrives and the ability to power them.
