In the interests of saving money on applications, etc. one has already registered, could one use a single user name for both, say, an NX80 and a UX50?

Please bear in mind that NX80V and UX50 r using two different version of OS5 which requires two different system update and components. Hotsync through a single username will surely make either one of your pda become very unstable, as they will share similar backup data. The only option is if you manage to separate the palm desktop application for each pda, or possibly try to hotsync each pda into two separate computers (if U happen to have a pC and notebook).

YES! Go to _http://www.codez4palm
Do a search for MultiUserHack or HackMe.
IN SHORT...
MultiUserHack and HackMe allow you to assign a different username to each app on you palm. GREAT APP if you are the owner of more than one PDA with different user names!
ENJOY!

I've never used hacks before. Have heard you need 'hackmaster' to use them. is HackMe another such program? I haven't done a search, 'cause I'm at work... but are there basic risks to using hacks other than you having to disable them before doing certain things?
And which, in your view, is the better of the two you suggest: MultiUserHack or HackMe?

Hmmm ... I was having diff impression thinking that U wanted to use a single user name for both pda. I f U r looking to use the multiuserhack, I recommend that U activate the hotsync name (in the apps) only when U need to use the related application. So far, I have encountered no problem with it, but mostly with games (for testing only), but not really sure it effect for other productivity apps. However, we all should support the shareware concept, as the market base for palm apps is not as big as other OS. And, They do deserve our supports for the development of pda-based apps.

I agree with you, of course. I'm pretty much resigned to having to buy all my favorite apps all over again just so nothing goes haywire (and thus demonstrating double support!) But the miser in me ...

I support palm developers, and always will. If i find a RAD app/game, i will purchase it! With my experiance using "hacks" there are no risks with your palm using "hacks". I use X-Master for my hacks control panel. There is either HackMaster, or X-Master. "HackMe" is pretty much the same thing as "MultiUserHack".

I have one UX50 which I hotsync with my notebook, then for my NX70 I hotsync with my desktop. But I'm also trying to figure out a way to hotsync both PDAs on one single PC with the exact same Hotsync name.
