View Full Version : MicroQuad - What you guys think?
I have only the trial version and is crazy. Though since its only one lap and such, it gets tiring after a bit but every now and then I can have some fun. Great game, very much like Mario Kart and some may say it's better but I still remember the different levels of Mario Kart and those are crazy good!
The beach, the city with lots of trucks and the volcano. Hehe... you drop in water and some angel fish you out.. ah good times with Mario Kart.

Tixx, you mean you missed the Search tool? <kidding> ;)
Fantastic game! I first tried this out in a UX and was amazed by the speed. Now that I have a game controller and a TH55/E, I appreciate the game even more. I'll probably finish the game soon but there's a Quick Race option and that's great when I need to take a break at work.
Does it get challenging and faster? Is there a level with other people, like civilians?

the game is fun with very good controls, graphics are awesome, and it is a great way to show off a PDA. the sound is pretty cool too, and the engine revving noises are less annoying than GTS racing.

Works awesomely on my UX50! Amazing game. One of the best, if not the best I have ever played on a Palm device. Yes...it's THAT good! ;)
I was just wondering how the cups unfold, do they get harder? More quads? Better tracks, any civilians (traffic - I assume not). Anyone bought it - tell us how the full version is and if it worths the money - Lol, might as well use my 5 bucks off from Handango offer (found in deals coupon forum).

The game is quite fun and reminds me of Mario Karts (Or Crash Team Racer on PSOne ... a rip-off of MKarts). The only down side is that the game is too easy! I unlocked all the tracks and options in less tha an afternoon. A difficulty setting would be nice so you can adjust the level of aggression of the competitors.
Now playing with Dreamway - it's a top down view (a bit like MicroMachines).
Dreamway and Microquad are the best racing games you can show off in your Clie :)

i don't like dreamway . . . . the steering was too sensitive and i was rolling all over . . . .
GTS racing, although pretty old, is still a great game. and i've only played the honolulu track since it says i need datapacks for the other cards and tracks . . . . not sure if it came with the game or i DL it from somewhere, but i'm too lazy to investigate.
Dreamway on my UX is weird, its a stylus-based control...

MicroQuad is all that and a bag of chips. The levels are very different from eachother and the scenery varies as well. I myself am only 3 races a way from conquering the game. For 2 solid weeks, I could not put it down. Bottom line is it is worth every penny and the graphix rock!

I went to Dreamways website to download the demo and in the testimonials there was Joel Suplido from ClieSource!!.... errr... 1src.com

I enjoy playing MicroQuad although like yorrick I found it a bit too easy and beat it within a couple days. I showed this game off to my cousin (who always has to get the latest gadget) along with a couple other games on the Zodiac I'm reviewing and sure enough he bought it!
The gameplay is real smooth and having multiple quads is ideal with differing terrains (sometimes it takes playing a track 1st before you can choose the ideal quad for it). Graphics are superb and fluid and the sound is decent. The controls on the Zodiac are perfect and having the "vibrate" feature on just adds more to the game :)
Don't mean to spoil it for anyone, but no you don't unlock any hidden tracks or additional quads (although that would've been a nice thing for them to do ;) ) just the "credits" treatment.
Overall great game, recommend it to anyone of all ages.

Does it get challenging and faster? Is there a level with other people, like civilians?
Civilians in a 3rd person view racing game? What would they do... stand around and cheer or get run over?

In the latest version, there is an extra quad (aka racer), and an extra cup of 4 tracks (or was it 5 per cup?) to unlock. There's also a Quick Race option which gives you a random quad on a random track... the randomness and unpredictabity it gives will provide some more replayability for many, and multiplayer via BT.

I prefer stylus control to the buttons. AFAIK, there's no "analogue" control to the buttons. There's no way to specify if you want to make a sharp turn or a slight turn, and that's just difficult on a overhead view racing game where there's ALOT of scrolling. On a PC or console where the screen and res is bigger... seeing the whole track or much more of it at a time changes all that.
Speaking of which, i've played Microquad on both my z71 and T3. I like how you can 'powerslide' in that game similar to in Mario Kart. That's your analog control there even tho it still uses buttons and optional supplement with stylus. Powerslide for sharp turns but do a normal turn for medium or slight turns. For the T3, hi-res+ is a delight. WIDESCREEN BABY!! Since the joypad and all buttons are to the side for a T3, they've even compensated for that by adding virtual button(s) on the bottom right of the screen u could press by stylus taps, so there ain't any need for finger twister when playing this game.
I liked how GTS racing allowed u to use stylus control. Again, sharp turns or slight turns are all possible at a moments notice. One reason why i stopped playing it was b/c one day, Graffiti controls just lagged the game. Everytime the stylus touches the graffiti area, it'll move the car in that direction, but will LAG slowly until it's removed. It never occurred before, and never figured out how to fix it. Also got monotonous despite the extra tracks. The extra tracks are only avail to registered users but I believe there were several in the demo version anyways.
In short, if you liked MarioKart type games, this 'll be worth $15. Even better $10 if u can find that deal. If Viex Games makes a level editor, then this game 'll definately be for u as they'll be many user levels available. MicroQuad has a nice following for a Palm Racing game. For others who are so-so on racing games, may wanna demo and then decide. Again, a promo would make it even better.
