Hello all of you! As a newbie this forum has been a blessing. Anyhow I need some help. On vacation a few weeks ago my wife got a bit rough with my NZ  and now the screen wobbles from side to side a bit. Does anyone know if it is possible to tighen it up? Thanks in advance

not that i know of... i suggest you leave that alone before anything worse happens.. it doesn't look that easy to fix.

When I was looking to buy my NZ, there was a really tortured one on display. The screen was very loose from people trying to close it over the restrain bar in the display. It didn't break but the bracket in the hinge area was very warped and pulled out.

When mine got a bit loose, I rotated the screen at 90 degrees and pushed it back toward the hinge. Rotating it allows you to push it back in a bit further. There is a bit of springback in the bracket so you cannot completely tighten it but it may be worth a try for yours.

Obviously, this is only if yours is loose for the same reason mine was.

Thanks for the help on this. I did try to push on the screen but it didnt seem to help much. I was thinking of removing the screen to check out the mechanism, but didnt try it yet in case someone else had allready had dealt with this.

Nope. You just accept it and live with the problem. I dropped mine a year or so ago and got the wobbly hinge. It worked just fine for a year or so.

Now, the screen is all wacky (it zigs and zags when I try to draw a straight line). I'm not sure that it is related to the loose hinge, but when I sent it to Sony, they fixed the screen and the hinge and now it works great.

How long will Sony support fixing the NZ's? I want to know how long I can expect to have a "safety net" on this thing should something go wrong.

I called sony to make a warranty claim on the loose screen. I have 1 year from the date of purchase to get it fixed for free. They will even send a prepaid box to pick it up and claimed to be able to get it back to me in a week! If out of warranty just get out your credit card....

what probably happened is that little bar that holds the screen has a crack in it because mine does and all i can do is replace that bar

The screen gets loose when the bar supporting the hinge cracks. Unfortunately there is no easy way to fix it. You can actually buy the hinge/bar, but it takes about 3 months and all of the wiring for the screen goes through it. I have been working on a solution to it, since i have several with that problem, but not resolved it satisfactorily without replacing the whole unit.
