I want this fone so i can connect to the internet on my clie ux50
Vinny,
your best bet is Sony Ericsson T610/T616 phone (all the same phone
but different number indicates different providers)
1) T Mobile offers T610 I think. They will charge you 20.- USD for
unlimited GPRS internet access. However, they have somewhat
poor coverage unless you live in metropolitan area (in that
case T Mobile is great). They will also give you discount for
their Wi_fi service.
2) Cingular Wireless offers T616. They will charge you dependent
on usage. I pay 35/-USD for 20 MB of data which exceeds all my needs.
I think 75 is unlimited. They have really good coverage, and will
improve with adoption of AT&T network.
Go for this phone, and you will have breeze with connecting it to
UX-50 (plenty of threads here cover it; also check ClieSource).
Best regards,
DrZ

T-Zones would be the best. If you go w/ T-Mo you have three BT phones to choose from:
Nokia 3660
Nokia 6600
SE T610
If you want to go use AIM, you MUST get the $20 T-Zones Internet plan. The other plans block out ports that AIM use (at least on my plan).
I have the Nokia 3650 (basicly the 3660 w/ the circle keypad), and it's been great. I've had no problems with it.

Ok.. so just to make sure I have this rite... All i want to do is use AIM and surf the web. I can do this all with T-Zones? And the T-ZOnes include unlimited text messaging? Thanks guys. And What does every1 else have?
I mentioned this alot but 6230, have EDGE which is a around-cable-speed network. Just need those retailers to setup the networks. Meanwhile it also have GPRS.
If you're in an area that has Cingular, go with them... They now have unlimited internet in a package (Media Works) w/ mms & text included for $20. I have the T616, w/ upgraded firmware, on Cingular with the Media Works and it works beautifully...

I have had Cingular for years and have an S56 with them. Cingular support is so bad, and their crippling of phones so evil, that I would say even if Cingular is available and you already have them, switch to T-Mobile for internet use.
I feel that so strongly that I recently bought an S-E T610 on TMobile for my UX50 (which works great together) after eight unsuccessful months attacking the problem with my Cingular S56.
Okay, there's one person who had had luck with Cingular and this, and it's his message I'm responding to, but don't bet the longshot. Play the odds instead.

The difference between the SE T610 and T616 is not based on which provider carries it. One provider may carry both because they are different phones.
They are both world phones but the T610 operates with 900/1800/1900 while the T616 is 850/1800/1900. Carriers operating 900Mhz is mostly overseas while 850 is mainly a newer frequency used in North America. Everything else about the phones are the same.
Note that both phones have been repalced with newer better models already.
Not 100% sure but I have been told the antennas are different on the t610 and t616...

If a person goes with the $9.99 plan through t-mobile, does that mean they can connect through BT anytime/anywhere/unlimited with the UX but just not use AIM? Are there any additional charges?
My TDMA National ATT Wireless plan expires on June 24th so I'm trying to figure out what to do.
These are the options I found at t-mobile.com (other than T-Mobile Internet Unlimited for $19.99), if anyone can explain what each can do on the UX40 with BT only, would be greatly appreciated:
Unlimited t-zones
(includes unlimited Internet e-mail and Mobile Web content) $4.99
Unlimited t-zones pro
(includes unlimited access to corporate e-mail, unlimited Internet e-mail, and Mobile Web content) $9.99

My experimentation showed that you could browse the non-SSL web and use ClieMail on standard ports (110 and 25) just fine without the full internet plan. However, to do Aim, SSL (which pretty much any site login requires), web chats and lots of other things you need the higher plan. The higher plan gives you better speed too.

I use the T-Mobile 19.99 plan with a Sony Ericsson t630 (pretty much a t610/616 but with a better screen and different housing). I think T-Mobile offers the best data plans. Before I gave my Sony TR2A Laptop to my sister, I always used the bluetooth connection to my phone instead of dialing out through hotel phone lines (when no ethernet or wifi spots where available), the speed was reasonable, especially with just surfing. I find the same speeds now with the UX. As stated, you won't be able to get on any secured sites with anything below the 19.99 plan.

Thanks everyone, I guess I'm gonna have to go with the $19.99. We don't have Cingular in MN, I really want the V600, as I love my old V60.

I am using the Sony Ericsson T608 with my UX-50 and PowerBook. You can piggy back on the Vision service and use it for a high speed unlimited unmetered (for now) connection. Phone is kinda buggy but it works - and it works pretty well for me.
