View Full Version : MP3s garbled if started at beginning?!
I'm having a weird problem with the MP3 player on my Clie and was hoping someone could help -
If I hit play on the Clie for an MP3 that plays fine on my computer, it sounds garbled and distorted BUT if I click on the progress bar for the track, even just a second or two into it, the MP3 plays fine for the rest of the song.
Does anyone know why this happens? It doesn't happen on every track, just some of them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks.

I think this is what happens when you playback an MP3 that is encoded using VBR.

VBR usually doesn't work at all. Is it the same files all the time or does it vary?
Are you running at 96kbps and did you do the last update? There is an audio fix and it just came out recently on Sony's support site.

From what i noticed, MP3 files with CBR lower than 96 will start making some weird sounds. Some files with 96 kbit will hiss too, but there is an update for that. The update made me hard reset because it kept crashing afterwards. Probably some program that is making it unstable. Just encode your files at 128 and you are set! No problems for me....
Thanks Larry -
I installed the NX Update and that fixed it.
