Since there really hasn't been anything on the radar screen, it must be pretty far off.
I wonder if Palm will slack off a little now that Sony is out of the picture.

I think Palm's been slacking since the M series. Honestly, with all the features Sony was putting into their Clies, the T3 is just pathetic in comparison.

I wouldn't exactly call a 400mhz pda with 64mb RAM and 320x480 screen with screen rotation ability and five way navigator pad "pathetic"
if anything I would call the TH55's 124mhz processor and 32mb ram with crappy digital camera "pathetic"
but i'm not trying to start a flame war or anything. I own both pdas and I like them both. In fact I much like the TH55 more than the T3, because of it's style and battery life.

LOL Wild. Yeah, it's bound to get a little vicious in here, I'm sure. I didn't mean to attack PalmOne like that. I bought my wife a Zire71, and she loves it.
I'm just more of a "physical features" guy who gets all excited about the multimedia capabilities of the Clies as opposed to the powerful processors in the T series. Though, as even as they may be in differing issues, I really cannot stand that concept of the landscape "slider" on the T3. That just seems like a total design flaw.
Of course, someone might make the same argument about the rear jog dial on the TH55. I like it, but to each their own!

I have owned a Visor Deluxe, Platinum, Prism, Clie SJ30, and now a T3. By far, I like the T3 the best. I do, however, agree that the slider stinks. I know many like it, but I am not one of those.

I went from a Palm Vx to the T-series Sonys because of their innovation with hi res displays and polyphonic sound. Other than VG, that was the last really innovative thing Sony did that interested me. The Sony proprietary APIs, though, required special mods to my favorite apps. VG had unique quirks on virtually every new device.
The T3 has 64MB RAM, 400MHz CPU, standard SD card support, and an awesome small size due to the slider. Sony has nothing comparable. I find the 5-way navigator more natural than the jog dial.
When I had my T665C, I asked many times on these boards for Sony to make a T-series with VG. I had lots of company in that request. To this day, Sony has not done so. Palm made the T3, which fit the bill very well. Palm out-Sonyed Sony, and did it with new, (sorta) standard APIs.

From what I hear, October at the earliest. Check out this thread (http://discussion.brighthand.com/palmhandhelds/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61603&highlight=Palm+T4) for some rumored specs.

me too, wants to know when the next T4 will be available from PalmOne, hopefully soon just around x'mas. not much confidence in Clié :( since it's latest news. it has to be better or at least on par with TH55's Batt, full screen VG, thickness, camera, and small & clear movie file format.
slightly off-topic... does apple release any qucktime player for palm? the quicktime format is much better and small size IMO...

:) amrcanpoet, you said:

Though, as even as they may be in differing issues, I really cannot stand that concept of the landscape "slider" on the T3. That just seems like a total design flaw. The physical features you are so fond of in the Clie models are, to many of us, no more than unnecessary friperies designed to push up the final price at the checkout. I don't own a digital camera or a camcorder. If I wanted one I'd buy one. What I don't want is a load of "extras" adding to the size and weight of my handheld making it difficult or uncomfortable to keep in my shirt or jacket pocket.
Those who want these other features can buy them. They can also, due to PalmOne's business model which encourages the thousands of developers out there to keep on writing innovative programs, buy any software add-on they are likely to want. It is doubtful if Sony's "everything in the box" approach would have achieved this. Look at the desktop OS market and see how many PIMs there are for Windows.
Finally, to the form factor. I personally don't like the clam-shell design of most of the high end Clies, nor do I feel comfortable using a thumb board. This isn't a flaw in the desidn, it's just that it's not to my taste. I don't like it so I dont buy it.

I though Palmone wasn't releasing the new T4 until the fall season, mainly cuz of OS 6

I doubt it. That design didn't do Sony's financial status any favors.

HEhhehe.............
Anyways The T4 might be improved version of the T3. I love to see it clam shell? no need but a Os 6 version with all the goodies yes :D
