I am wondering if anyone else is blinded by the light? I love the clarity in daylight but when reading on a plain or when I first wake it causes considerable eye stain. I was curious if there was a skin that is compatible with wondersilk? or a screen protector? U/V flip cove available to fix this? :-{ Francis

At the bottom of your silkscreen there is the brightness button. Adjust the brightness down when it's too bright.

the was a hack for 0S 4.1 and older machines called energy dimmer (or something similar) to do this but I dont think there is anything for the OS 5 machines.

ya I am not to happy with the brightness on the NX. it is fine during the day but at night, even at the lowest setting, I feel like I am staring directly at the sun. Energy Dimmer was just released for os5 but only compatible with the Tungsten T so far. hopefully, they will make it work for NX soon.

Thanks I am not a wimp. wouldn't it be nice to have contrast as well as brightness, like a real monitor

The thing I hate most is waking up and then trying to use my clie. Its kind of like god's flashlight shining in your face.

I like to read in bed before I go to sleep, and I also wish there was a way to turn the brightness down even further. After about 15 minutes I have to stop reading cause it starts to hurt my eyes. (Not that its a totally bad thing, since I do need the sleep.)

Whoa, you guys should see the NZ90 screen ;) I've got my NX70V and NZ90 side-by-side right now -- The NZ at 33% is equal to the NX70V at 100%! Crazy.

Almost any review, one of the things rated is how bright the screen is, never how dim it can be:)!

Yeah, I think this is a good problem to have! :)

Even with PalmReader set to a black background, it's still hard to read after a while.

I am glad to see I am not the only one. Don't get me wrong I love the brightness when its daytime. I do use the screen invert whenever I can and even use the highlight contrast opt. in
Doc.TG I just wih it wasn't ness. I still think I am going to wear my sunglasses at night and if I knew the rest of the lyrics I could... No I am glad I don't know them.
I still am playing around with the idea of an external filter. Like the acetate that you use for book reports in a brown. Some kind pof a homemade pouch, I know that that sounds a little obsessive but the brightness on an airplane can, depending on the person next to me, prevent me from using it when the lights are low. If anyone hears of any Programs or accessories post it. Francis

I've been wondering about this, too. I tried using my nx70v to take notes during a movie once, and the dimmest setting was way too bright to do so without disturbing the people sitting around me.
You could always download colorize or kroma and change the back to full black and the writing to a light grey. Its not ideal but it should work fine (you can also just swap back easily too)

It would be very nice to have a utility that would lower the brightness on the NX even further. I use the thing as a mini flashlight when the lights are out!

I thought everyone might be interested in this. I pulled it from the palmgear page for Energy Dimmer (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=0A4F1DD5-B3A2-4CC0-BB1ACAFC1BB1463B&prodID=28880).
"Update Description
(02/26/03) Added support for Tungsten|T running PalmOS 5 (Sony Clie NX70V will be supported in version 2.1 in March). Also, on the Tungsten|T a calibration of the brightness slider is possible, please refer to the manual for details. "
here is our solution. can't wait.

Great! I am glad to see there is a choice in the future.
Because, I installed colorize and while I really love it - it gives me a fatal exception in clie memo. I can't seem to delete it even in the way instructed, without the error remaining. I am wondering if a warm reset will do it.
Anyone familiar with how to rid myself of this and finding other programs like it that would work without the memo prob. Thanks Francis

I actually use it as a flashlight quite a bit... I look at it as another feature... In fact... Id like to make an app that makes the whole screen white with a lil brightness control so you can just flick it on to the brightest possible, then back to your normal mode by closing the "flashlight" app.
hmm...
