I have a clie TJ37, and use the wifi capabilities on the airports at my church. I also use programs like Limewire and kazaa alot. I was wondering if there is any program like that for the palm os. The wireless connection there is much faster than at my house, so if I could download files to my memory stick and then just transfer them to my computer when I get home, that'd be awesome.
Anyone know of any? Or is anybody interested in making one?

You musn't illegally download copyrighted materials from inside a church, the consequences from up above could be dire...
;)
I don't think there is any existing software, although I'm sure it would be possible.

Gosh - peer to peer theft in a church - goodness me
Wonder how responsible the church is if you get done....
You guys must not generalize. The original P2P is meant for sharing legal files and allow people to access copies of software, music and others of what they bought. It is more convient for you to get a movie than ripping your own. P2P is setup, in a bad way, to let users to get files they already have but unfortunately, some people have no good in their heart and use it as a way of piracy. For whatever reason and how he use it, we should try and help him. Let god be with you... There is a program in Handango called: MobileX. Its a P2P, Kazaa remote control. Please dont pirate it and buy it.

Ummm not to get over moral on this but you realise copies of music, software, movies and other things they brought is anti-copyright and thus not legal.
I`m just amused at seeing the probable piracy happening at the church...
ps wasnt the original p2p napster?

Technically you could call the original p2p telnet. The old BBS systems. Then IRC. Napster was the first - I think - that was internet based with a search option.

Very true re BBS systems. I still play LORD a couple a times a week at the local one here :D
I reckon Napster was the first system that got that media name 'p2p' though. IRC had been doing it with fserves well before, plus the ftp search engines, etc but all that was just called pirating ;)
Napster was so idiot proof though, suddenly everyone could do it.

Yea, believe it or not it is possible to perform legal tasks on a p2p network. If the whole concept was illegal then the p2p programs would have been easily shutdown long ago (and then someone would have found a way around that, but anyways). I work with kid's church, and the kid's pastor does power point slides. we often will search for nature pictures and stuff on limewire. It's also possible for us to exchange documents and calendars that way, since I can't really figure out how to get wifile to work. I think everybody just has a guilty concience. Also, many people like to think that if they are doing something illegal, that probably everybody else is doing that to. I've heard many people say "well, everybody uses filesharing" and they were refering to that in an illegal way.

A very intresting use of p2p, but wouldn't Google work better for the things that you are searching for?

Google only heps sometimes. we actually get a lot of crappy stuff that way. but that still doesn't help us transfer files back and forth. I'm not really asking for alternate methods or criticism, I just want to know if there is a program like this. easy as that. If not, can anyboyd lead me to a developer that would be interested in taking this up?

I dont really care what you do in your own home/church, but my BS meter just rockets with your statements spygrad2003 ;)
Downloading pictures at random on a p2p network and using those pictures probally (90%) a breach of copyright. Highly unlikley you are asking the taker of the pictures (if that is even who is sharing the pics) for permission to use them, and highly unliley your getting public domain stuff (which would be easier via web galleries).
Scarey that you share your calendars and other docs via it too. If you are using MS office products to create them, it would mean sharing those files with alot of keywords for peopel to find you. As your working with children your probally aware thay leaving information of kids full names, or what ever other information your 'sharing' on P2P isnt a good idea to say the least. Addresses/ Ages or groups? If you are truely sharing that type of information you should rethink, and get some policies in place about privacy and security.
Its also seems impractical... ie I know for kazza networks, and assume the same for limewrie, ulness you are also using extra tools to find specific dats, your darn unlikey to be able to find those files.
A instant Message program or email seems more suited to the task of sharing docs ;)
You could perhaps tackle the problem by downloading a java virtual machine to your pda, and complier to your PC, and try to translate an limewire varient (freewire and others too no doubt can be downloaded with thier sourcecode).
Or your could have some fancy scripts set up on a web page to run it remotly, but you wont get the bandwidth your after then.
Maybe a telent with an ftp program will go towards meeting your needs.
