Howdy. I've searched to try and find my answer without bugging ya'll, but I'm at a loss on two problems I'm having now.
1) I can't get the Data Import/Export feature to work. My Windows XP machine sees the removeable disc, but won't read it for some reason. It says it isn't formatted correctly and doesn't have the permission to format it correctly. In addition, Data Export says that it can't find the drive, even when I do the Select Drive command. Hmmm... any thoughts? I'd like to get my PC reading the card, that'd cure my second problem I think.
2) I can't get the Palm Install tool to place pdf or ppt (adobe and powerpoint) files on my Palm (my memory stick actually). It comes up with a sync log error that there are no applications to handle that format. Picsel viewer is supposed to handle either, and D2Go should handle the ppt as well. Any thoughts on why this is giving me grief? If I could just use the export feature perhaps I wouldn't have this problem cause I wouldn't have to use the Palm Install tool.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Joel

Did you try formating your card with card info on your palm yet? Try That.
And with pic veiwer make sure the files is targeted to be sent to your card.
If that was alreadt tried or doesn't work then use the data import method.

Formatting card with Card Info has already been done. All the pdf and ppt files I've been trying to send has been targeted to be sent to the card, NOT the Palm. I can't use the Data Import feature to put them on the card, that is problem #1. Hmmm...
Thanks for the help though.
Any other thoughts?

Did you install the driver for the pc that is on the cd

Yeah, I sure did. What puzzles me is that the Data Export utility on my PC sees the "removable disk" when I use the Menu option of Select Drive and I can see the "removable disk" as drive I: on My Computer. However, when I select the drive from the menu option in Data Export, it says there is no drive. Also, when I click on the I: drive in My Computer it says that it is unreadable/wrong format.
I have been curious if a total uninstall/reinstall of all Palm related software on my pc would help. I'm not thinking that it would though.

This happened to me one time because my clie was conected half way, I saw mt clie as a removeable disc butr couild nt access it. If you can, you should check to see if this problem persists on another PC. If it does work on another computer then there something wrong with yours, so you might have to put a recovery disc.

Try this...
First of all if you just want to be able to move files out of your memory stick, or into your memory stick, then just use the data import feature. It's under "Data Control" then "Data Import". All you have to do is press CONNECT, and your pc should recognize it. Now you can drag files in and out of the MS.
To read pdf files using PicselViewer, just drag the file to your MS. That's it! Now, go into Picsel Viewer, click the little box on the bottom right, click the file cabinet looking icon, then click on MS, then your file should be somewhere in there.

First of all, thanks for all the helpful replies. I appreciate you guys working with me on this.

Yeah, it won't work on my PC at home, nor will it work on my PC at work. Both behave identically. They can see the removable disk, but can't read it for some reason. Argh!! Could this be an issue with my antivirus software? Any other ideas? Should I give uninstall/reinstall a try?
chenling:
My PC does recognize the MS when I use Data Import, however, when I try do anything with it (open it, place files on it, etc.) it just says "The disk in drive E is not formatted. Would you like to format it now?" So my computer sees the removable disk, my hardware manager sees it as a Sony USB Mass Storage device. I can't do anything with it though. I know how to make Picsel work, I've been viewing pictures, word, excel, and html documents with it no problem. However, I can't use the install tool to install ppt or pdf documents for some reason. Again, I think if I can fix the issue of not reading the memory stick I won't have to worry about the installer not working with ppt and pdf documents.

What MS do you have?
Sorry if you have stated this already but what brand of PC do you have.
Another user reported this same problem on the clisource forum. He said he contacted sony support, they asked what MS he had. He replied he had a Sandisk. Sony then was blamming all the problems on everything but the CLIE. Hopefully you have a SONY MS. And maybe sony can HELP!?

 Yeah, guess who bought the SanDisk MS? That'd be me! I'm sure that isn't the problem, but I'm also sure Sony support would say it was. I'll have to give a uninstall/reinstall a try.
