I found my old, painted blue, USRobotics PalmPilot! I put in a set of AAA batteries, fired it up, and stared in awe. It still works!

My Palm IIIxe still works as well. My son uses it for playing hardball. Even though he has a GBA and Gamecube he will still play hardball or minehunter and show his friends the "cool PDA" he has. It is in a blue, see-through case I purchased from gethightech.com.

Wait a second! This sounds like a conspiracy to me!
How could your PalmPilot still work? It's outdated! Plus, Sony isn't making any more Clies for the US market this year!
I know better...

I have a working Palm IIIx that I still use. Mostly use it on some military deployments due to its ruggedness and battery life. Also, since I can't depend on a power outlet having the ability to simply swap out batteries keeps it going.

I have to say I really miss the rugedness of my Palm III. I dropped that thing on concrete from my shirt pocket so many times and it never stopped working. Back then the case was made out of serious plastic that could take a hit. Now they are so fragile that one drop and it's curtains.
I know what you mean, bryus. Look at my PalmPilot. I pressed on that accidentally (that's the black spot on the lower left part of the screen) -- still works. Dropped it five feet high in the bathroom, on tiles, -- still works. I haven't turned that thing on in like three years... and it still works.

I wish I had kept my old ones:( I had a Pilot 5000. Bet that thing would still be running if I hadn't given it away.

Even though the white etching form the buttons on my IIIxe is long gone, this otherwise mint-condition machine and a PalmPilot Pro that I still have, work great.
The battery life on the IIIxe is not as good as on the PalmPilot, but it is still usable.
Wish the finish--especially on the powe and hold switches--of my NZ was as good...

I also have a Pilot 5000 at home, the stylus is broken, but the pda still works. even after some hot (fluid!) cheese fell onto the display ;)

speaking of dropping Palm III's...I inherited mine after my dad dropped it so many times that it NEEDED to be dropped/hit repeatedly in order to work. It was quite amusing. Unfortunately it died when the bag it was in was thrown onto the concrete floor of my garage and the screen shattered.

My 3Com PalmPilot still works as well... even after a brief incident where the batteries corroded.
I have a friend who has a US Robotics Pilot... and his still works as well.

I still use my US Robotics Pilot 1000 every day. I have upgraded it to 1MB (wow!) and OS 2.0. Still waiting for the perfect PDA to upgrade ... maybe the upcoming T4?
