I just picked up the WiFi card today at Best Buy for $99 ($149 minus $50 rebate). I don't think I've seen anyone with this price yet. It is still over-priced but at least I can semi-justify it.

What rebate?!?!

I bought mine at Best Buy 5 days ago and saw nothing about a rebate.

It was mentioned on the price card on the shelf & printed out at the register. This was in NJ.

The rebate is if you purchase the WiFi card on or after March 1st. Your reciept has to be dated so you can get the 50 bucks back...

If you bought it before try returning it, and the re-buy it somewhere so you can get a dated reciept with March 1st or after on it...

I guess it is real. Bring it your reciept to customer service and they should be able to help you out, as long as you bought it in the last 30 days.

At the Best Buy near me in NJ, I got it with a $50 mail-in rebate. The rebate coupon says this is for purchases from 3/1 - 5/2.

Go online and buy it there, you get a few more dollars off and the 50 dollar rebate. But you end up paying for tax and shipping if you live in CA... I am not sure if there is free shipping.

I tried to buy mine at Amazon two nearly two months ago and it is still on back order. What an aggravation! Amazon's web site still lists it as available, usually ships in three days. First time Amazon has let me down. I'm kind of glad now that they didn't have it.

I would like to hear from Wi-Fi card users what are the main benefits of having such a card? Specially for those who's work does not allow Wi-Fi networks. What are your main reasons to buy such a device.

Thanks

It's getting warm here in SW Florida and I bought mine with a Linksys Wireless router so I could sit on the patio, keep up with my email and surf the web. Also, when I've been to several offices around town, I'm still able to surf on whatever access point is around.

So far, I love it, my only wish is that 802.11b would be more widespread and public.

For what it's worth, my brother-in-law is a computer network admistrator for a large bank in a small town in the midwest. He and his partner have brought internet access to the whole community (up to 13 miles from town) using high-power 802.11b devices. So, it can be done on a large scale.

I now feel like I got the deal of the century, and shall not ***** any more about Sony's price fixing. I bought my PEGA-WL100 at Best Buy (my wife opened a Best Buy account so I could get 10% off). This brought the price down to $134.99...not bad.

I saw this thread, and immediately went to Best Buy and got a price match for the rebate. They basically returned it, and resold it to me at the same price, $134.99. With the $50 mail-in-rebate, it brings it down to $84.99. Add the $8.64 tax I paid, and still not bad at $93.63.

Woot!

Check around on some deal forums and you can get $30 off from Staples for $150. BUy the card for $150, get the $30 off and send in the rebate! Total without tax is only $70!

I went to Best Buy last night to get a revised receipt so I could get the rebate. As I walked around the store, I discovered that the wireless router I bought (Linksys BEFW11S4) was also entitled to a $20 rebate if purchased after 3/1/03. I got the revised receipt for that as well. So, I got $70 coming back to me. The $250 I intially paid for the router and card doesn't sting so badly now.

Thats odd...I called my local Staple(s) and none do. I also contacted 800-Staples and they said they do not/have not/will not carry Sony Clie accessories.

Where are you located or do you have your store address?

One has to wonder why Sony is offering this whopping 33% off MSRP rebate.

I bought one this weekend, then started questionoing why Sony would do that. Maybe they're about to introduce a bluetooth/wifi combined? Or maybe just a faster protocol?

I weighed out the price versus use and decided it really wasn't even worth the $100 for it, and brought it back. But factored into that decision is the possibility something better might come along.

Hmmm...

Well I really feel like a winner now. My net cost will be $62.50. I registered my new NX60 over the phone with Sony. They sent me an email message thanking me for registering and gave me an e-coupon for %25 off certain items. The WL100 was not listed but I was curious anyway. I went to the Sony online store and added the NIC to my cart. Then I added the e-coupon. Eureka, it worked. It reduced the cost by $37.50.

If you haven't registered your new NX as yet or if you only registered online, CALL SONY and register. You may get lucky too.

I know what you're thinking, suppose it doesn't work? I already called the online store and was told by one of the reps that if the coupon reduced the cost on the site, then it'll work.

I know, I know - - he could be wrong too. Well you know the saying- nothing ventured, nothing gained!

That's right, Staples dropped Sony sometime ago in New Jersey. Additionally they have dropped carrying Linksys stuff too.
