As a long time Clie user, having owned the S360, then the N760, T615, T665, NX60, and finally, NX80 the news of Sony discontinuing the Clie line would/could have been a huge disappointment. However, since I gave up my NX80 for the Garmin iQue 3600 I haven't been happier. The built-in GPS receiver and Garmin's navigation software made the iQue the most useful PDA I have owned. I still came back to Cliesource often for the latest Palm and Clie news, but I discovered a new forum for iQue users at PDA Street. I hope this forum catches on as well as I have found Cliesource to be one of the most useful sites for Palm news, software, and tips.
I am sad to see the Clie go as I think it was a great source of competition to Palm One and others as it kept the pressure on them to continue to release newer models with more features and without Sony, the HiRes+ 320x480 screen may have never been developed by other companies. However, as PocketPC continues to up their ante, I think companies like Palm One and hopefully Garmin will continue to make great products for the Palm OS to keep users like me from jumping ship to the PocketPC market.

I seriously considered the Garmin device but kept on going with the Clie line. If programs work well on *this* version of the 320x480 screen I might just give it another look.

I have had mine for over a month. It's everything that I have asked for. Before this I had a Tungstun 3. The 320 x 480 Screen works great. With the Garmin I do not have to use a slider. The Garmin is just a little longer then the T3 but it is lighter. Both units fit in my pocket easily. The GPS part of it works Flawlessly.

If you decide to go with the iQue, my advice to you is to check the serial # on the box. Some of the older units including mine (serial# 9022...) have some issues with automatic soft resets due to static electricity (sometimes even hard resets with older ROM versions). The good news is you can easily flash upgrade your ROM. There are also plenty of software enhancements with the update so I would definitely recommend updating to Release 3. You can find it on Garmin's download page (http://www.garmin.com/support/download.jsp).
I'm not sure where the cutoff really is between a good and bad serial #, but if you can find something 9024 or 9025+ you should be okay.

You might want to wait for the new iQue's. I heard from a Garmin rep at the PalmSource convention that there are two more models coming out. No details of course but I bet it'll have the Cobalt OS.

I do hope that IQue and other PDA manufacturers keep a high pressure on PalmOne. I hate Sony (even though I used to have a NX70) but I know that it's because of Sony that my T3 has everything I ever wanted in a PDA.

Thanks for the heads up, I can't wait.
Hopefully the newer version of the ique have better battery life than the current ique.
A camera, expansion slot, wifi, BT, hi res + the perfect GPS it already has would make it the perfect PDA.
Hey I can dream can't I?

Much appreciate your post. I've been looking for a new device to replace my NX-70 and was dismayed by Sony's decision. However, I've had a quick look at your device and I like what I see. I need to find a shop nearby (Glasgow) where I can 'get a feel' for it.

Hmmm. I just ordered an iQue 3600 from Amazon. The more I read, the more insecure I become. The price wasn't bad but the battery life seems to be an issue. Anyone have more info on the battery problem or if I should cancel my order and wait for the 3200 or, or, or.... ?

The 3200 seems more focused on the GPS navigation part. Since it dosen't come with a headphone jack, that is the biggset turn-off for me. According to Reggie, there should be another model coming out.
