Never in my life have I depended so much on something so little.
I have developed a twinge when my wife asks me to use the Precious to look up movie times.
Company partners would have kittens if they knew how much confidential information is encoded in the Precious. I store the LAN backbone layout, version and patch records, and everything that a wizard might require while attempting to avert catastrophe when miles from home.
The WiFi VPN gives me a sense of security while directly accessing and controlling the File Server and Network. I now VNC to my own and other office PCs running a VNC client as well as the Win2K Server. No Problem. I can SMB files from my home and work networks to any PC that my WiFi can spot. No Problem.
Oh ya, I access e-mail too.
My little city has so many free access spots, I will never pay for a minute - well not including my home or company wireless setups.
But I don't waste company time or equipment playing those really cool games, or listening to MP3s, or visiting friendly Internet sites.
