Save Movies as .mpeg

I just got an NX70V the other day and was wondering how save movies that I record as another format i.e. *.mpeg to bring them into iMovie. Instead of *.mqv.

i have had success by simply copying the files to the computer and renaming the files to *.mov which quicktime recognizes. you can also set up a permanent relationship with quicktime and *.mqv files and that should work also.

has anyone gotten it to work the other way? I'd like to take my movie clips and watch them on my clie.
