I saw a post in this forum maybe a month ago about using a cell phone car (cigarette lighter) charger to charge the Tungsten E. If I am not mistaken it was for a Samsung A600, but I would like to be certain before buying anything. Only that now, I cannot find the post in question. I have searched the forum as well as the web using Google but found nothing.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I forget where I saw it too, personally, I bought one as part of a 2-set on ebay... [cigarette lighter charger with a usb hotsync charging cable]
I thought I'd be safer that way, and this way I get to 'fully' charge the Palm as I hotsync...

I saw it mentioned in a column by Jeff Kirvin at his site, www.WritingOnYourPalm.com . In his review of the Tungsten E, he said: "While I'm sure the E will sell in sufficient numbers to spawn a line of chargers of its own, for now you can pick up chargers for the Samsung A460/A500 and use them with the E. I've got a Belkin car charger that works great. I use the car charger whenever possible, but I have to say that reports of poor battery life on the E are greatly exaggerated. I wasn't too impressed myself at first, but after setting the IR keyboard driver to auto-disable after five minutes of inactivity significantly improved my battery life. I get about 5.5-6 hours now, similar to other color devices with 900mAH batteries."
I wrote him and asked if he'd had any problems since writing this, since I had the same model phone and had already noticed that the plug fit and the voltage was close. He said he'd been using his cellphone car charger for months now with no problems.
I haven't tried it yet because since then I've been trickle-charging mine at work and at home and haven't had a problem with it running low in between. Maybe my next vacation...
Here' s the column. (http://www.writingonyourpalm.net/column031013.htm)

I would suggest going with something a little more reliable (see below) before you wreck the TE with some odd voltage or something. Try these excellent alternatives from Javoedge:
