Getting the itch again. Should I dump my E (which I am very happy with) and go with a Z72? I think I need to play with one first.

If you are happy with you tungsten e and you don't have enought money stay on tungsten e, but i thing that palm zire 72 is much better than tungsten e, so if you have money i thing that you most buy new zire it has more details for example than palm zire 71 and palm tungsten e things together, so if you ask me, i will buy new zire 72...

To see ALL of the details of the currently released hardware profiles on the market, go here:

http://www.palmone.com/us/products/compare/

This should help you with your decision on whether to scratch that itch, or just put some cortizone on it. :D

For what it's worth the primary advantages of the Zire 72 over the Tungsten E are:

2.7MB more RAM
Vastly better processor (312Mhz PXA270 vs 126Mhz OMAP 311)
Bluetooth
Voice Recorder
Camera functions
an extra $100

Size, weight, etc are nearly the same. So, the question is do you think those features are worth an extra $100?

The only thing I'm NOT liking about the Z72 is the "hump" on the back for the camera. I'm hoping to find a store this weekend with these in stock so I can see if it's as pronounced as it appears in photographs. It's the first thing that really gave me pause as to whether I really wanted to switch from a T3 to a Z72 or not. Since a few days ago, I've been leaning towards yes, I do want to switch - but today I've swung back around to No, I don't want to switch - the hump is just too much to get over atm.

Add in the plastic, not metal body. Other than those two things, I probably could have seen myself switching.

Now, the T|E on the other hand - it'd be a difficult choice. I feel the Z72 is quite a step UP from the T|E - but then again, I also hold out hope that a T|E2 will be out sometime in the next few months that will be great too. The obvious fact though is that while the T|E2 is still just rumor, the Z72 is available NOW.

Luckily, I already have a PDA that does everything I need - so I can hold out a little while longer.

I don't think I've answered any part of your question. Sorry. =)

actually, i believe the advantages of the Z72 over ther TE are:

-over x2 as fast processor
-digi still and vid cam
-voice recorder
-BT
-Contacts has the ability to store a picture with each entry (out of the box)
-standard 1 year warranty (TE only has a 90 day stnd warranty)

likewise, these are what the TE has over the Z72:
-$100 cheaper
-more user RAM available (29MB over the Z72's 24MB)
-The version of DTG (Professional) bundled with the TE can also view/edit/create poiwerpoint slides (Z72 only comes with DTG Standard)
-standard placement of PIM buttons (only makes a dent of a diff if you're into "buttoned" games)

Dear all,

Any one who reads my posts and threads knows that I buy everythinhg that comes out. I ahve the entire palm coolection and PPC and symibian to boot.

So to get back to the point of the TE versues the Zire 72. Lets be honest felloes the Zire 72 wipes the floor with the Te then still comes out smelling of roses.

Why, simple. Lets look at the facts.

UC annoying to say the least but if you already own a TE you are not fussed.
It has bluetooth I missed that so much in the TE.
It has mms/sms messaging which in my books rocks.
The improved pims are teh same but you can change the background with out paying anyone.
It has avoice recorder, has it's uses at times.
Has a much better bluetooth software thne even the T3 and that was great. It is simiar to that of the windows ppc 2003, set up. Annoying works mainy with Xp.
It has the same graet screen but with that annoying high pitched noise.
The processor just chills layed out on it's sunbed and relaxs whilst you throw stuf at it. The TE struugles on pims. Any one who disgarees is obviously used to slower sytems. The bulk is not that big a deal, it is actully tghinner then my Zire 71.

I started with a TE, loved the pims but needed bluettoth. Infared is great but sucks as some networks around teh world do not support GPRS over infared. I am in the British army and travel the world Extensivly. Bluetooth is a n option I'd rather have then wif. IT enable syou to go on line in some remote places.

Take care all, anyone who wants my opinion let me know, I will do comparsions or anything else you want.
I ahve all of them and use them all, depending on my mind set at any given moment.

Bye
Sayem Bashir

:D    :p

^^ good points. Z72 is moreso for more "powerful users" who want lots of multimedia and BT.

TE enables u to work with powerpoint slides on the go, cheaper, and is still a great value all around

Absolutely! The TE is still dollar for dollar the best deal for a Palm. For only $200 it really has a solid list of features. It all boils down to your needs and what you will do with it.

I would say by looking at the stats the zire is better. it has a faster proceesor, more wireless capabilities, and the camera as a bonus. but it is a bit pricey, so if u want to save 35 bucks check out this site:http://www.compuplus.com/insidepage.php3?refer=froogle&id=1002267

Nobody has mentioned that the alarms on the 72 could wake the dead. The E's alarms are on the anemic side.

2.7MB more RAM - Hmm maybe not worthwhile
Vastly better processor (312Mhz PXA270 vs 126Mhz OMAP 311) - Hmmmm yea faster baby! :D
Bluetooth - Oh yeaaaa
Voice Recorder - Hmmmmm naah
Camera functions - Hmmm? Naaah
an extra $100 - Hmm why not?

Overall I'd upgrade!

But dang, I just love my T|E and I'm tight me on wallet

:(
