Today while at work I was checking my T3 and wham crash. I thought no biggie I will just soft reset. Well then it was stuck on the Palm startup screen. Reset, reset, reset and the same thing. None of the buttons would work the T3 just stayed on.
I have read posts of this horror but never had it happen to me. I should note I have owned a Palm since 1999 and have never had one completely crash.
I began to sweat, I new I had not backed up to the card in three days. When was the last time I hotsynced? I thought about this the rest of the day until I got home. Mind you the T3 is still on, never gets that kind of battery life when I am using it. Anyways checked the Hotsynch date and it had been two days since the last Hotsynch. I told myself, idiot you know better then that.
Well I did the dreaded hard reset (I had to look it up as I have never done it before). I started the hotsynch and wham it crashed for some unknown reason. Got it runnining again and this time everything worked fine except I had duplicate appointments for everything, don't know why that happened. Got the dups fixed and now I am trying to remember what I put in the T3 the last two days that I needed to remember.
The funny part is that Datebk 5 has been crashing on me when I push any icon button. This has been just causing a soft reset and all was OK. I had not had time to research the problem and then today ofcourse what do I do, push the icon button and Crash. I guess some people never learn. I think I will set an alarm to remind me to Hotsynch.
After five years and five machines I guess one Crash isn't bad.

Wow, five years and only one crash. I guess that you don't beta test. :)
As to Datebk5, delete its preference database (Datebk5DB.pdb) from RAM and then recreate your settings. Most DB5 problems like that are due to corrupt preference files.

Tanker Bob,
Thanks for the info I tried your suggestion and I still get a WindowGraphics.c, Line: 1837, empty bitmap family error causing a soft reset. I have reloaded Datebk and the icons and I get the same problem. It seems to have started all by itself. I will check the Datebk yahoo group when I get a chance.
By the way I have used many programs when they were still in beta but for some reason I have never hard crashed, not complaining reason #1 why I use a Palm.

There are softwares what will force to do soft reset and if even soft reset don't work and if it will repeat soft reset inself i thing (and it will force to hard reset) that software maker is pretty bad software maker...

What? The SOLO DateBK5 maker? I would like to see you do better...
It is a bit buggy on the T3 though, only the latest version on the site works comfortably. Basically DateBK5 doesn't like restores from HotSync...
I would recommend using something like Uninstall Manager to remove it totally and reinstall it from fresh, the HotSync probably put it back on the Palm wrong after the Hard Reset.

This error is caused by a corrupt icon library file, or one with an unsupported icon in it. My recommendation is to use a different icon library or fresh download of your current one. Don't use the one from your backup.
I've restored Datebk5 a number of times from my card with no problems.
This could also be caused by interference with another program as well. Did you install any software before the problems started?

I, too, have restored DB5 a number of times from my card without problems. And I am running DB5 without the datamanager patched and using BBFVS to restore. Not such what issues you've had with restoring, Chris.
Also, that SOLO developer for DB5 is a heck of a lot better than the staffs that exist on a most other Palm software.

OK I deleted my icons from the SD card and reinstalled them. Datebk is working great again. By the way I have been using Datebk since 2000 and this is the first problem I have had. I have had a few glitches with the T3 but everything seems to be sorted out now.
I think somehow my memory card has been corrupted somehow if that is possible. If you had seen my other post about my search crashing it only does it when this particular memory card is inserted. Still working on that one.
Thanks everyone for your help.
Tanker Bob keep up the great site, I check it almost daily.

I had been searching for what may have been causing this particular error message. I dont use Datebk5, but Agendus. So I deleted all icons. The problem wasnt my icons at all but a photo that I was using as a backimage in Zlauncher.
Since my T|3 wouldnt launch, I used 'bitmap' as my starting point and used a file manager to see what was different in regards to my Zlauncher images.
Recently I installed a bunch of photos (jpg) to my SD card, the footprint is smaller than .pbd; just takes a few seconds longer to load, but no biggie. One of my photos had some type of glitch which produced the "windowgraphics.c, line:1837, empty bitmap family" error message.
Now I just have to reintall my icons. :D
