Pretty awesome, but where's the trial? I aint buyin' a game without a trial. Sorry, but that's just me.

Hi there. Like many programs before, it is currently in beta testing on the hi-res version (not sure about hi-res+ as I am using a T615C).
At the moment, it is still being beta tested and improved upon. Since the first iteration of beta testing, there has been a lot of improvements over the current Rifleslugs (lo-res).
Here are a few things to look forward to:
1) hi-res (well - duh!)
2) Much faster response (and that is one of the big leaps in improvements IMHO. And this is on a 33MHz CLIE!).
3) A few new weapons.
4) New layouts. Dunno if they will be converting to hi-res the old ones.
Would it be any better than the yet to be announced "Worms"? I dunno. At least this is (and in hi-res soon) out and Worms, Scorched earth etc, are all the same in principle - we take turns beating the daylights out of each other! :) :)
As most people have mentioned, I would suggest that you wait until the hi-res version is released before you commit your hard earned cash towards it. Personally, I would recommend this game - a 8/10 stars (or worms) rating! :)

No trial and is not on their site even. As a registered user, I'd like to get it soon.
Well it might be like a "soft grand opening". Reason that I say this, is becuase it was released on Handango......usually I get press releases before their products are released. So who knows.....they might be trying something new
There we go. Just as I thought....the trial is now on the Handango listing :D
The registration for my previous version of RifleSLUGS was removed when I recently performed a hard reset of my system due to sytem instability. I had not registered it prior to installing this new version.
However, the previous number seems invalid for the new version. For those that had a registered RifleSLUGS on their device, did the registration transfer to the new one?
I still see nothing about the new version on Penreader's site (http://www.penreader.com). I have sent an email, but wanted to know other's experiences.
Thanks in advance!

I just got the demo, it's sooooo much better than the low res version, the graphic is simply amazing, it has a good weapon selection too(gotta love the kangaroo!). The only downside about the game is its size, 2.74 MB! It took like a minute to sync and another 20 sec to load from memory stick on my T665, I am sure it will take even longer on 33mhz units, but it's well worth it.
Rifles+slugs+Hires=total carnage:D

I can't speak for the new version, but when I purchased the earlier version (low-res) version from handango, the email I received from Handango provided the unlock code to be used to register the demo version.
Did you not receive an email from Handango with an unlock code?
yorrick
03-02-2003, 05:45 PM
Same here - the unlock code was in the purchase response from Handango. Penreader (the writers of Rifleslugs) sent out another message about the rego code too.
I prefer to get more messages about confirmations from more than one source than complete silence! :)

anyone else have this problems. Startup screen sound works but sound in the game is barely audible (can hear only with ear against the speaker).

Same problem. I actually didn't know there was any sound during the game until you said something

I am a registered user of RifleSlugs I, and I can confirm that my old registration number does not work with this new version.
I haven't received any notice from Paragon about upgrades, whether free or paid, since this was released. Seems strange, since I participated in the beta testing for II, and got regular e-mails from them regarding that...

I have the same problem too with the old rego codes not working on the hi-res version. Waiting for a reply...
Just wait, i am a beta tester and i am entitled to a full free version and i have not gotten it yet, nor had anybody i know of... patience is a virtue..... :) Ahh who am i kidding i can't wait!

It was a bit of a put off since they never indicated that registered users of RF were going to be hit by an upgrade price. (Shades of Iambic saga...)
Personally, if they indicated this a few weeks ago, I'd accept it as a reasonable offer given the enhancements they put in. But to spring it on us now - I consider that a bit of an ambush. <sigh>

Is there notice of the upgrade offer for current users anywhere? I can't find any reference to this on the Paragon website--only a link to pay $19.95 for the full version...
yorrick
03-05-2003, 12:49 PM
andrwcoffin, Paragon has not said anything about it at all.
The last I heard from them was they sent an email out to all registered users the serial number of the lo-res RifleSlugs and asking them to keep it in a safe place.
Many took that as an email to remind them that this was a valid rego code to the hi-res version. It was only until some people complained to Paragon that there was an upgrade cost to the hi-res that people realised the lo-res code didn't work on the hi-res version... <sigh>

how do you switch from hires to hires+ mode?

I just downloaded from handango.com and once I started a game it went to hi-res+. The title screen/options screen are hi-res on my NZ90, but the game itself is hires+.

Still waiting on two fronts (since I used 2 email addresses for contacts).
1) Registered user from lo-res RifleSlugs. No news of the "special upgrade" ... though the "no news" bit could be the upgrade offer?!?! :) :)
2) Beta tester for RifleSlugsII - sent back a reply to say that I was registered in their customer support.
For the moment, there are other games to keep me occupied (Zap2016, Strategic Commander, WorldWar, Bejeweled, TakTik) that I don't mind waiting! :)
Where is my registration???

It's been a week (and counting) since they released RifleSlugsII and no news for an upgrade path or anything for beta testers.
I have registered to them my "customer support" database details for them to do so - still nothing shows up in the support database (apart from the lo-res version of RS)

Same here Yorrick. I gave a follow up e-mail today, but they just sent me the registration code for the low-res version again.
This seems to be taking too long. I like the sig Ocell:)

I just got the upgrade offer e-mail. Although I would have liked to be able to upgrade for free (who wouldn't?), I was pleasantly surprised that the offer was so good--75% seems reasonable for previous customers...
The last version of RSII that I tried crashed my T615 though (it was just a soft reset). Has anyone successfully run this game on a T615?
yorrick
03-13-2003, 02:39 PM
Yes - it runs quite nicely on my 615. I was one of the beta testers for it too.
$4.99 I guess isn't that bad.
