I would like to be able to point the 5-way select button (and hench the silk screen app launch button, I believe) at whatever program I like as opposed to just those who know how to "steal" the pointer. I am probably missing something obvious but I don't see any parameter or program that will let me do that on my T3.

Perhaps 5 Nav Launcher is what you are looking for.

Flexbutton should allow you to do just what you are asking. You can also configure it to launch a DA, or even remap it to act like a different hardware button alltogether.
You can download it here:

Thanks for the suggestions folks but I couldn't get either program to perform the function. I am probably not being clear. I would like to press the select button when the T3 is off and have it run the program of my choosing....NOT the program (launcher) which is inserted itself in to the app launch silk screen button's programmed slot. 5way doesn't seem to work from "off" and FlexButton does not seem to have the 'home' button in its repertoire.
Probably still clear as mud be "words fail me" :\)

FlexButton 1.1beta6 will configure the 5-way nav select button to run the program of your choosing, even when your T3 if off, by the following method:
1) Open FlexButton and click on "Tungsten" under the "Device Group" heading
2) Click where the setting for "5Way Sel" and it will show all of the programs installed on your T3. Select the one you would like the 5 way navigator select button to run, then click the OK button.
3) Be sure to turn on FlexButton by tapping the "On" button. You are now all set. Even if your unit is off, when you press the 5 way navigator select button, it will turn on and take you to your desired program.
If I am understanding you correctly I'm going to venture a guess that you want to configure the 5 way navigator select button so that when you press it, it will take you back to your default launcher. To do that with FlexButton, configure "5Way Sel" to launch "Applications", but by default, the T3 is configured to return you to the default launcher if you press and hold the 5 way navigator select button so there really is no reason to even use FlexButton for this, if that is what you are intending to do. If I am totally off base on this assesment, please update this thread and let me know.
