View Full Version : T3 Performance Concerns
I was about to purchase a T3, but after reading many users' reviews over the internet, I'm a little indecisive now. There seems to be a lot of complains about the T3's freezing, its sudden resets, hard resets, data disappearing, SDs erased, hotsync problems, etc. And many people also complain about the very low battery life. Is the T3 really that unstable and not practical? On paper it seems to be such a tremendous and neat machine. I want to be sure because I live in South America, in a country where no clients' service is available.
I'd appreciate any comment. Thanx.

Nah, as long as you don't mess about with the ROM with programs such as JackSprat you should see no problems. Some earlier models had problems with some SD cards, if you do get an older version then there is a free patch available to fix this.
My T3 is solid as a rock and is a fantastic machine. I use PXA Clocker to Underclock the T3 to save battery on non-battery intensive programs.

I love my T3 and never had any of the problems I have read of others and sync between a PC and Mac. I also avoid JackSprat not because I am afraid of it, I used it often on my Clie. I avoid it because it's a new device, and I rather let other people make mistakes first.
I think all the noise is caused by a few. The majority I would guess is very happy with the machine.

The T3 is great. Most of the problems you mentioned were either due to us tweaking it to the breaking point or just general wierdness that happens with all devices at random. I had one of the original T3's but I immediately updated it after the purchase so I haven't had any SD issues. The only thing I encountered that PalmOne hasn't patched yet is the T3 turning itself on randomly when you set a birthday that has an alarm spanning December-January. I've gotten around this by tweaking the alarms around that time and installing Handyaid (which seems to keep it from happening at all for some strange but wonderful reason).
The only reason I could see for holding out would be to see what PalmOne is going to do with OS6. If they annouce an upgrade (like I hope they will) then I'd jump at a T3.
I can't say that the T3 is perfect, but I've never had a PDA that I liked more.
The T3 is great - and reliable. I've had one since Oct 03 with no problems whatsoever. I'd recommend a purchase to any and all.
If you read a lot of internet postings on PDA's in general, you'll notice that most people post only when they have problems that they need help with. They also tend to be frustrated, and usually crost post to numerous boards. This can give something of a skewed view, accentuating the negative. The majority of users are most likely content and happy with their purchase like me ;-) but they don't post every day to tell the world about it. e.g. "Day 183 with my T3 and all is well - I still Love it!!" Those would be pretty boring posts...
Good luck with your decision!

I've had my T3 since its first release date and I love it. I mess with JackSprat/Flash and had problems with the original versions, but all is fine now. For normal use, it's a solid device with great performance.

The T3 is by far the best PDA that I have ever owned and I got a drawer full of dusty Sony's to prove it. No other PDA, PPC or Palm has been as stable as my T3 has been. Unfortunately, I have no control over how others use theirs. I can say that if you know what you're doing, you will NOT have any trouble with it! Like Tanker Bob, I think the T3 has been the greatest thing since sliced bread.
BTW, I did my tricks with JackSprat and JackFlash the other day. Now I have total control of over 62MB at my disposal... :D
Oh, did I mention that it's fast too
