View Full Version : Gant2 T3 DIA skin Available
I have created a Gant2 T3 DIA skin:
http://213.238.217.23/VeloWeb/pics/misc/DIA-Gant2_320.gif
Skin features:
- Standard version with standard tricell area (ABC-abc-123).
- Imod (International modified) version with a numerical keyboard in the "-123" area and a small grafitti area to make it possible to create international characters e.g ü, ö, ñ etc.
- Black text on the keys in DIA keyboard mode and grey background color instead of white. (EDIT: Removed due to problems for some user with the extra file included.)
The skin is based on the excellent icons by mattahan and the ZLauncher skin made by Bandit.
Get from Palmgear:Gant2 DIA (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodID=57926)
I hope you like it!

This is another beautiful skin. Congratulations, Velo!
Alas, I have recently invested in MessagEase and using it precludes using another DIA skin at the same time. Too bad one can't easily switch between these technologies.

This is a truly great skin!
I really enjoy it. But when I installed it i seem to have lost the ability to use the onscreen keyboard, any sugestions.

I had the exact same problem. I can't seem to get the onscreen keyboard to work either. It is a beautiful skin though.
It seems I also am unable to call out the keyboard or number pad when I have PinletStdKeyboard.prc installed. I resetted it a couple'a times, but still no go.
Removing this makes the skin usable again.

Nice skin Velo and have same issues with keyboard access as the others. Removed PinletStdKeyboard.prc for the moment. Thank you.
I'm sorry that the trick with Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc doesn't work for you. I tested it on my own T3 with success. I'll do some more test and see if I can fix it.

The black keys in Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc seem to work fine for me. Much nicer then the white with that keyboard. Glad I snagged the file early, I see you removed it since people were having problems.
A special thanks to Velo. Your skins are some of my most favorite and getting to install a new one brightens my day a bit.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

I'm glad it worked for somebody with the Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc file!
And yes, I removed the file for now because of the trouble some users had. It's ok with power users such as people here in the forum but "normal" users might find it a bit scary if the keyboard is not selectable any more. I'll continue to see if I can solve it. It's difficult though to see whats wrong when it works on my own T3....

I had similiar problems. The Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc file did not install properly. What I did, after installing the main dia file, I copied the Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc file to my sd card then moved it to ram and did a reset. Now it works fine.

Hi Velo,
I did what Rmaster did and it worked. Looks like the problem is a HotSync install. Moving it from SD, then do a soft reset did the trick. Thanks Rmaster for the tip.
That's great news! The file Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc is probably locked somehow so a new version cannot be installed via hotsync. I use Pilotinstall becasuse it's much faster when doing test and that worked fine. The keyboard must not be active in the DIA though. (get Pilotinstall - freeware here (http://envicon.de/e/pinstall/pinstall.html)).
If anybody want to test it again I can make the Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc file available from my site until I'm sure it's ok to include it again in a public zip-file.
Thanks for letting me know about your progress!

I too had the install error, message from hotsync log;
HotSync operation started 4/12/2004 1:05:08 PM
- Already exists: D:\DATAFILES\PALMDESK\RobertJ\Install\PinletStdKeyboard.prc
- Installed file: D:\DATAFILES\PALMDESK\RobertJ\Install\DIA_Gant2IMod_T3ABG.prc
- Installed file: D:\DATAFILES\PALMDESK\RobertJ\Install\ZLT_Gant2_OS5_64K.prc
Install synchronization failed
Using SD card & reset worked fine on my T3.

The HotSync Install must explain it as I have not had single problem with the Pinletstandardkeyboard.prc at all.
I too use PilotInstall for all my software testing...
Great Skin, Go Velo, Go Velo....

Ok, copying it direct from my SD card works. Which means it is a problem with the hotsync.

Like it very much, fits perfectly with Gant2 skin for LauncherX which I have installed since the time it was published.
Question: Why are the transitions of the colors so dithered? This isn't the case with the LauncherX skin. Am I doing something wrong?

It's because of that the DIA skins are only 8-bit and the Launcher X skin is 16-bit. It's very difficult to get the same colors without dithering.....So you are not doing anything wrong :)

did you try to modify the version of your Pinlet file to make it superior to the one in ROM? it may work...

It worked! (In combination with that I removed the "readonly" bit for my new PinletStdKeyboard.prc file).
Now it's possible to do a normal hotsync of the file and easily remove it via normal launchers App->delete (selecting the application "Keyboard", 20kb).
I have uploaded a new version to Palmgear including the PinletStdKeyboard.prc file for those of you that would like to have black text on the keyboard.
Thank you MythoFactory for helping me with this!

As I experiment with other DIA skins I see the effects of your PinLetStdKeyboard.prc file. I must remove it to remove the effects. This is OK, even a potential BONUS. It means we can tweak any DIA if we change the appropriate color info in PinLetStdKeyboard.prc.
How might one (without recompiling a prc) tweak the file to use alternate colors? Can we use RscEdit or PalmInsider to change appropriate bytes?
