Does anybody moving from Tungsten to Clie TH55? :D
I hope I'm not the first one swim to Sony.

So meantime, I will be more active on ClieSource.

Nope, staying with my T3 - it's faster, has more internal memory and deffinately won't suffer from incompatabilities of Clie - such as no sound on certain games. Oh, and it has a 5 way pad. And it can shrink smaller.

Hi I picked up a TH55,(CWOLF your fault dude) I don’t like it I state the following as my reasons.

1. I own a T3, I take for granted the speed and the memory
2. I can fold it away and I have all the extras for the palm.
3. it is big, the camera buttons are awkward
4. it is so slow
5. the cover is not removable though you can get different ones.

The only thing that interested me was the diary feature, but that wear’s away. I use agendus as my main contacts manager it is easy and integrates it all. I don’t know I guess I just like my T3 the dorm factor, the landscape which I have a choice to use when needed. The size and Bluetooth works a dream on the palm. I don’t know the T3 just looks the business. The th55 just is a bore

If you want it try it, but you will notice the speed. I have my T3 downcloocked to 150 for pims, and it is still nippy.

:) Any questions you have ask and I would say if you can go try the hand set. Dont part with your money untill yo are sure.

Best of luck choosing...:D

well it's faster but the stamina ? can tou listen almost 25 hours to mp3z on your T3 ? I dont' think so.

on palm os 32 vs 64MB isn't a big difference. I have 16 on my UX50 and with over 70 proggies still 10,5MB of RAM left.

and there are no incompatibilities with new sony.

not to mention TH55 has got WiFi & Bluetooth (if you are in europe) and has got camera and NATIVE mpeg1 & mpeg4 playback (kinoma is just a joke :-)

i don't think i will be ever forced to listen the 25 hrs of mp3 without having an opportunity to recharge the t3. i don't think i will go to the jungle where has no power outlet. also, i have a lot of things to do that need concentration, thus can't listen to the mp3 more than 2 hrs each day, so it will never be an issue in my reality.

in every 5hrs of each day in my life, i'll be in the car or in the office or at home , yeah ... so i still can charge the t3. it seems to me that batt life would never be a real problem for me. but without the speed of t3, it makes me nuts.

Underclocking the T3 - ie making it as slow as a TH55 gives it 9 hours of continuous play, I don't intend on being away from a power supply or not talking to anyone for that long.

I have friends and I like to talk to them with full concentration.

Combine the features of the European TH55 and the T|T3 into one device, and I'll take it...:D.

Otherwise, I ain't movin' to the TH55 just for the battery life :p.

I came from the T615C and T665C to the T3. The Sonys were very nice, but the proprietary nature of so much of the Sony devices limits software choices.

BTW, I like the slider. I hardly ever use the power switch, simply sliding the T3 open to turn it on when I want to write on it.

I'd find it hard to give up the T3's 400 MHz, 64MB RAM, and PIMs. Palm is setting the new standards, so that's where I'll stay for now until something faster with more RAM comes along.

The other big advantage of the slider is well - it makes it not big!

I have looked at the latest Clie - It doesn't have a slider, so it is a big big for my pocket!

My T3 fits nicely in my pocket - and that's in it's case!

Exactly! :D. That's another reason why I got a T|T3.

(P.S. - Is there any way to tighten the slider? Mine is getting loose :().

I can imagine most will support the T3 over the TH55 here. After all, this is PalmOne City. I would have considered the TH55 if it had appeared before the T3, after all, Sony already had the means to develop a non-keyboard 320x480 device. Then of all things, the UX-50 came out and I was grossly dissappointed.

It cost me plenty to move to T3. I already had a 1GB/512MB MSPro and other accessories and nothing for Palm. But I have no regrets making the jump. I went with Lee to buy his TH55 and I was not impressed. Here are my reasons.

1. Form Factor - I love the slider of the T3 and its minimalist approach without sacrificing function. Very businesslike and stylish.
2. Speed - the TH55 was sluggish and I'm spoilt at 400 mHZ.
3. Bluetooth. While WiFi is nice, I use BT much more than WiFi. My recent trip up a hill resort kept me connected. WiFi would have been useless there.
4. RAM/Flash - I am using both Flash and RAM in my T3 and I have only 18 MB left. I can imagine the squeeze on a TH55.
4. Speaker - the T3's speaker is so much louder and I can listen to mp3s without headphones. Games with enhanced sound are nicer too.
5. Screen brightness - the TH55 is pathetic and Lee had to keep it at Maximum ALL the time. To have longer battery life I think Sony did that on purpose.
6. 5-Way Pad. The jog dial is awkward.
7. Hard button gameplay which is IMPOSSIBLE on the TH55.
8. SD card - I've got a 1GB and 2x512MB SDs which cost less than my MSPros.
9. PIMs. I tried the Sony's PIM and I think it's more eye candy than practical. Why else is Lee still using Agendus :) The Palm's PIM is very businesslike with multiple addresses, additional custom fields, webpage, birthdays etc. not to mention 32K memos.
10. Stylus. The Sony's are still matchstick stylus. They never learn. T3's stylus is the only one I have never needed to get 3rd party replacement.
11. IRDA. It's so much stronger on the Palm.
12. Support. Just go over to ClieSource and you'll know why.

When I gave the TH55 a run, it felt more like a PDA for play than work. I have owned 3 Clies before my T3 including the NZ90 and I have to be honest and admit that the T3 have been more used for productivity than the Sonys ever were. I wait in anticipation for the next OS6 Palm. It will take a lot from Sony to make me switch camp again.

I swap from TH55 to T3, the reason is :
1. Fast CPU.
2. TH55 screen quality worse than T3.
3. Most people say TH55 battery is very strong. But in my experience, only same as NX73/NX80.
4. I like Bluetooth more than Wi-Fi.
5. I like rotate screen.
6. compact size.
7. more powerful VG(DIA) than Sony VG.
8. more RAM.
9. flashable ROM. (it can upgrade rom app - example document to go...)
10. SD Card 256M cheaper than MSpro 256M.

I moved from T|3 to TH55, the reason is:
1) The finest LCD display, no more yellowish/bluewish on T|3
2) Longest battery standby hours
3) WiFi, Hotspot, faster than bluetooth
4) Solid quality, made in Japan
5) No more slide
6) Native MPEG playback
7) NetFront, the best PDA browser
8) Flash player, macromedia flash playback
9) The new Clie Organizer is fantastic
10) Faster read/write speed in MS Pro compare to slow SD card

Good luck with it! I am still quite happy with my T3. I have several MSPro sticks here also, but the SD still blows them away for me, especially in reading from the SD card.

Hi...

I bought them simply to try, and so I can say I have them. But they have been sin binned a long time ago. Generally as with all things sony, once you buy sony, you generally have to have everything sony.

The Th55 is slow, the battery life is good though, but so does the TC have agood abttery life.

The T3, has the choice of screen rotation, is much faster and if you down clock it I get about 6-7 hours solid out of mine.

Pants, and sin binned? Care to translate for some of us Boomers? :D

The wifi and long battery life would be nice, but the lack of bluetooth in the US version is unacceptable. The 32 megs of memory, slow processor and memory stick just don't sit well with me either.

I'm assuming those are British slang. I would guess that "sin binned" means discarded, much like our "sh*t-canned", as for "pants", I don't know.

I just decided to keep both. I do however use the TH-55 more than my T3. In my area WiFi is supported much better and I have no Bluetooth phone.

Pants is deffinately from the UK...

Pants = not very good, not quite "trash" but generally poo.

Hello there.

Thank you indeed Cwolf for the reply and yes I would agree pants is an English phrase. Whilst sinbin comes from my army background meaning reegated. The device is rubbish and forces you to buy everything Sony. I now have T/C, works a dream, I now have the choice to use wireles sor bluetooth. Also the speed is amazing, they are both just so fast.

Ta for now.

yeah, th55 is just a nice looking device with great cosmetics in software which (in my case) i don't really use it. webpro is acceptable for me, enhanced pim and or datebk5 is still usable for me thus no specific needs for clie organizer. flash player is nice, but i find myself that i rarely use it.

wifi and batt life is an advantage but i never really dependent on that.

thus, i am still in love with my t3 and hoping for palmone's new t series with xscale 520mhz and larger battery.

I own both and think both have pluses and minuses. In the end, I will keep the T3 because of the size and the horrible Clie Stylus. I can not stand to input anything with that horrible noodle.

I have the T3 and bought the TH55. I decided to keep the 55 and sell the T3 on Ebay. I need the money to pay off the credit card I bought the 55 with.

I can't sell the T3 for enough on Ebay so now I'm thinking it was an omen and may want to keep the T3. The only problem is that I kept the 55 too long to return.

The only thing that I don't like about the T3 is the slider. I like having the screen full size all the time. What I really like about the T3 is the full landscape.

I have a metal Pdair case for the T3 and it fits nice in my pants pocket. I guess I would really like the 55 more if I could get a metal case for it.

To me, the screen on the 55 is more crisp than the T3 but it seems to give it too fine a font on some things.

The T3 is really nice with the 5 way navigation and the location of the buttons.

For the small size of the T3, it sure has a large stylus.

Damn!, why can't they quit coming out with new and better toys that I have to go crazy over, trying to decide what to keep?
