I'm kind of curious. Why does Info tell me I only have 11M of memory, when this is suppose to be a 16MB machine?

All the embedded multimedia stuff need to have 5 dedicated Mo...
This is the case on most machines, but with the NX it is the first time that the amount of locked memory is so high :(

hogs was right. 4 to 5 megabytes is taken up by sony apps that are included.

And apps that are going to allow us to delete un-used apps are comming shortly (hopefully)...

Not necessarily, the last I had heard Brayder has been having issues with it.

Actualy, that is incorrect. The Sony apps are stored in the 16MB of ROM which is a seperate area from the 16MB of RAM. There will be a utility to access the ROM and delete apps from it, but you will still only have 11MB of RAM accessable to use. The 4 to 5MB is used for system memory and its the temporay area that apps use when they are running, much like apps on a PC use RAM.

Right, you are correct:)! I just can't remember at the moment what terminology Sony had given to described it(:.

So is this an OS 5 specific thing? Having a "heap" of 5 MB, I mean.

no its not an OS5 thing as this is not a problem with the Tungsten - its a Sony thing.....has to do with the "included" applications.

It appears to be an OS 5 issue, my previous Clies and Plams haven't had near the RAM overhead of my NX. I can't wait for the JackFlash upgrade. I'm almost out of memory!

Whether is an OS5 thingie or not, PowerRun v1.2 can help free up memory by moving most apps to the memory stick.
