Zlauncher

OK, some recomended Zlauncher. Got it installed and working ok.

BUT, I still can't seem to re-arrange my Icons. I can use new tabs or quicklaunch, but I can't drag and drop then where I want?

If you go to Tab preferences, and hit the Icon Tab you will see a Sort drop down in the bottom right of the dialog, just select manual and then drag away

got it, thanks. Guess I need a manual I can understand.
also had problems making my own backgrounds. Their manual shows more backgrounds then was provided with the software,

Backgrounds are easy since you can have them as jpg or bmp (just make sure you installed the jpg library that came with zlauncher). There should be a directory something like Zlauncher/Background on your sd card...you can just drop the files in there. You should have the size formatted how you want it though.

You can also use this excellent utility on the PC to create the PDB files for backgrounds, from images and then just sync, it also can compress the backgrounds (ZL 4 required) to save space..

Another site for backgrounds is Palmarysoft.com, these folks make an excellent Palm clock, the best IMHO, they have a download section for backgrounds for the clock, but they also work well as ZL backgrounds ( the DL zips include the original jpg)

I seem to have a problem, the ard does show the zlauncher diredtory, and I can see the background file I sent to it. But zlauncher is listing backgrounds from the main memory. I need it to look at he cf card, yes? How ??
