Hello,
Me again, I just wanted to ask what phone really works well with the T3. I have just sold my p900 to a friend. I will buy another regardless later on, but the thing I noticed is that it does not work with my T3 at all. I am currently using my trusty 6310i 2yrs old and still going strong : D. I just want the ability to have a colour screen and mms and still be able to use my T3 via Bluetooth. Please advice, plz plz.
Thank you in advance.
Yours truly
Sayem.
P.S.
I am not bothered about the cost, the following phones can be ruled out as I already have them
8910i, 6100,6600, xda2, p800, 7650,9210i, gx10 &gx t68i, T610,7250, 7250i, 3650, sl55, v200, p400, 6610, 6800, 8910, 8210, 3300, n gage, t300, c100 and a load more old ones.T3 Rules T3 RULES!!!!

Seems to me you halready have every phone ever invented. What are you looking to do that all of those phones don't do? Personally I use the SE T610 and am delighted. I think it works REALLY WELL with the T3. What more do you want?

I have been very happy with the seT610. I use my palm for dialing, updating contacts on the phone, and I use the phone as a modem for my T3.

I use T3 with my SE t616 (a dolled up version of t610) and it
works fine. However, I just found out that ATT WS charges about
3c/kb. Is there any other GPRS provider has a lower rate?

TMobile gives you unlimited data for $25 p/month. That's nothing to sneeze at by any means, but that is the only service that I am currently using. I'm strictly text messages and email. They do have other services such as TZones that gives you a pretty good data service for less. It's a $5 add on. I know that there were some users on this forum that were using their T3's to connect via tZones access.

I'm using Sprint PCS right now, but have come to the conclusion that I'll have to change cellular services to use my T3 wirelessly with a cell phone.
The new
Sony Ericsson T637 (http://tinyurl.com/33r44) looks interesting, which cellular service is it useable with?
I'm located in California.

I personally use the Nokia 3650 with my T|T3 to get online. I mean, with all the features of the 3650 (not to mention better pics than the T610/616 and a expansion card), I think it's a better choice ;). You can also get the 3620/3660 if you don't like the circular keypad (3620 available w/ AT&T).
Oh, and T-Mobile has free WAP, so you don't need to pay when ya go online, although if you want unlimited access (no blocked ports) when ya go online via T-Mo GPRS, you should get the $20 Internet Plan.
Other than that...there's nothing else you can do since the other phone I would recommend...palmOne doesn't have the BT driver yet :(.
If you already have a GSM plan (T-Mobile, ATT, Cingular), then you can get an unlocked phone. Here's one...the Nokia 7600 (http://www.just-talk.com/phone_det.php?phoneID=137&SubMenuID=1).

The 3660 (http://www.just-talk.com/phone_det.php?phoneID=156) looks like an excellent unit, the 7600 is pretty radical, I'd have to look at one before I ventured that far, I can't be sure it's ergonomics are good. What does "unlocked" mean?

Unlocked means you can use that phone on any GSM network (any network that uses a SIM card). You need to have a existing plan w/ a GSM network first before you get an unlocked phone.

I didn't know that. Are you saying that you browse the net from you palm to a tmobile phone without purchasing any data plan at all i.e. tzones or the full data plan? If so, does it count against your minutes? Can you use it for emails and chat also?

About an hour ago I was speaking with my brother who has T-Mobile service. He had an older phone is a sim card. When he bought a newer phone, he slipped in the old sim card and downloaded the phone numbers from it into his new phone, and then slipped in the new sim card and placed the numbers into it.
Pretty handy to be able to do that.

Anybody know of a GAIT phone with bluetooth? I'd like to have a bluetooth phone with my T3, but I travel a lot and GSM-only phones don't get the coverage I need.

You said you were on Sprint PCS? My brother-in-law was able to get one of the few CDMA Bluetooth SE phones released - the T608:
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=228
Only works on Sprint. Very similar to the T610/616. Battery life is poor if you do much analog roaming though.

BUT - You can't get unlimited Vision (only a special 3MB plan) and I believe it still must be ordered by calling them.
To kennyd - It is pretty limited, but you can still view and log on to sites like POC. I'm not sure exactly what is limited because I have one of the old GPRS plans, but you might as well check at HowardForums (www.howardforums.com) for some details.

The Nokia 3660 (users manual here) (http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,47414,00.html) was supposed to be available by the third quarter of FY 2003, isn't available yet, either in the US or in the UK. Release appears immenient though, even as Nokia USA still says they don't know.
The functionally identical 3520, available for use with AT&T only is out, but if you want T-Mobile (which I do) you have to wait or go with an older model, such as the 3650.
The 3660/3620 have a much higher color display capability (65,000 colors vs. 4096 for the older models), better software, and some other new features.
Looks like the 3660 will cost around $149.98 with new service, or about $389.99 for the phone by itself.

What about the N-gage QD that just came out. I immediately made fun of the original when it came out, but this looks like it might be a good phone. Smaller, no more side-talking and hot-swap MMC.

I am still pleased with my SE T610 and T-Mobile. The phone has much better battery life than any other phone that I have owned.

SE T610 does have very good battery life. I never end a day with a low battery.

I have the QD and it is definitely a big improvement over the first N-Gage. The hot-swap MMC really works in practice and makes the changing a game a lot easier and faster. QD really is what N-Gage should have been in the first place. Also the price will be more competitive than the price of the original N-Gage.

All,
I have had a Tungsten T3 for a while now and just recently switched to Cingular Wireless from Alltel. In doing so I traded in my old Motorola for a new Sony Ericsson T637 with Bluetooth.
I am trying to configure these two to talk to eachother but it is not exactly working right. I have established a trust between them and can beam contacts and pictures via wireless and also use the built-in dialer. and it connects fine.
However I am trying to get the Networking part to work so I can use the phone as a modem and connect to my ISP, Earthlink.
My Connection settings are:
Name: Nathan's Phone
Connect to: Phone
Via: Bluetooth
Device: Nathan's Phone (Setup name on T637)
Model: Sony-E. T610
Details have an init string of: &FV1E0X1 and a speed of 57,600.
Network is setup as Dialup connection:
User Name: (My Earthlink UserID)
Password: (My Earthlink Password)
Connection: Nathan's Phone
Phone: (Local Access Number)
When I click connect it states initializing and then Dialing Dialip Connection. My phone comes alive, then I see a small flash twice on the screen of my Ericsson T637 as it tries to dial the number two times. Although it flashes so fast it doesn't connect. Then I get an error on my Palm T3 Error:no carrier (0x1102).
When I first got the phone and did this I could get the phone to show the dial screen more as it seemed it was dialing and I would hear a busy signal. But I tried changing phone types in the preferences to generic then back to the T610 and no luck.
Has any one got the Tungsten T3 and Sony Ericsson T637 playing nice with eachother? If so could you list your settings, such as Init String, etc...
Also, Since I just switched to Cingular I have until the 28th to decide on whether I want to keep the service. During this time, I can trade in my phone without a penalty. If the T637 doesn't work I will trade it. Any recomendations from Cingular-compatible phones?
Thank you,
Nathan

All,
Just to bring this to the top and maybe rephrase.
I am looking for
1) The Init String to Use for The Sony Ericsson T637 to "Talk" Bluetooth with the Palm Tungsten T3.
2) If I can't find the correct Init, a recomendation for a phone, currently on the market & able to work on Cingular network.
I only have a week left before I am stuck with the Sony Ericsson T637.
Thank you,
Nathan

it doesn't even "look" good to me. the thing is rather large, almost playskool/fisher price sized. the menu navigation is difficult because you have to select with the middle of the 1-piece-hard-plastic-joypad which is hard. you could also hit the softkey twice but that's pointless. the physical weight isn't that bad but the size of it gives you the impression that it's a hollow piece of plastic.
i would recommend the t610 or the newer t630. the difference is that the t630 has a better lcd and better keyboard. and something about one of the icons being different but it's nothing important.
and yes, i can vouch for the battery life, as i leave the bluetooth on 24/7 becaus ei use a bluetooth headset (SE HBH-600 Akono)

Hi Nathan. I wonder if you succeed to connect your T637 and T3 via Bluetooth to surf internet because I'm considering switching to Cingular or AT&T and buying T637. Do they charge you when you surf the internet using T637 as a modem?
In Network preferences, I think User Name, Password, and Phone should be left blank.
Thanks!

Has anyone tried using the Motorola V710 with the T3 yet? If so, did it work?
I wonder if it is possible to "unlock" CDMA phones...
I seem to remember someone figuring out how to use a Sprint Treo 600 on Verizon a while back (before Verizon carried the Treo 600).

I'm also interested in knowing how the v710 works with the T3. I'm using it with my laptop without any real problems. Occasionally the phone hiccups, but the BT connection from the PC seems fine. I'm thinking about buying a T3 and since I'll be giving up WiFi on my Clie, I'm hoping BT will work on the T3 with my 710.
Thanks!
