Using my T3 to a laptop with a linksys USB bluetooth adapter. I am only getting about 20ft max. The specs say up to 100 meters, that's about 300 ft.
Anyone else have any experience with the rated distance vs real time distance.

Depends on the BT adaptor you have on the PC. If it is Class 2 then the range is less than Class 1 - or vice versa..... I canna remember which is which!

I have the Linksys BT dongle, and get way more than 20ft, though I've never measured it, But my PC is upstairs and I can surf on my Palm downstairs out on my deck no problems, make sure you have it plugged in directly to a USB port on the PC and not a USB HUB

Hi,
since the T3 is a Bluetooth Class 2 device, the covered distance (line of sight) is approx. 10m (30 feet).

Ah, where did you find out that? I remember hunting everywhere to find out if it was class 1 or 2...

Hi,
I have to correct myself.
The T3 is a class 3 device with up to 10 m.
Class 1 - up to 100 m
Class 2 - up to 50 m
Class 3 - up to 10 m

Unfortunately it is in german.
Where it says "Hersteller" pick Palm from the list and then click on the blue button "suchen". As a result you will get all bluetooth-related devices made by Palm.

What a strange decision to make for Palm to put in a Class 3...
I do remember a review of a Cllass 1 hub, and the reviewer used his palm on the floor above to test the C1 range, that was a T3...
Surely if he was able to do this the T3 must be able to transmit at the range of a C1?
Wish I could find the review again...

Personally I have not been able to use it outside of the room that my PC is in. I love this wireless stuff and have decided my next Palm will have WiFi. I got addicted to surfing the web on my Palm while my wife was on the computer. The range was a drag though.

Hi,
I am using a Epox DG-02 class 2 dongle with my PC and I get easily 30 ft. My PC is upstairs in my office and I have no problems using the T3 in the living room downstairs. The only thing I had to do was get the dongle out from behind the PC by using a 5 ft long USB cable.

Yeah, I can use the Palm in the bedroom and the box is downstairs, Class 2 Belkin dongle. I have to make sure all the doors are open tho.
