View Full Version : Taking T3 online without Bluetooth phone

Hi.

I have a Tungsten T3. I'd like to start using all of the functions it has that involve going online, but I'm not sure of the best way to do that. From what I can tell, the best way would be to connect using Bluetooth to a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone.

I have a cell phone (Samsung SCH-N370) with a data plan. It's not a Bluetooth phone. As far as I can tell, there is no adapter available to make it a Bluetooth phone for data, as opposed to for a headset.

I would have to pay CDN$25 a month to have up to 4Mb of data transfer, with each additional Mb costing CDN$10, or CDN$50 for 10Mb of transfer, with addional Mbs costing CDN$6. Or I could go a la carte and pay $10 a Mb.

The only way I've discovered to connect my T3 to the phone is a US$80 cable.

Samsung Cellular Cable, SKU Number: SN-120081T

My cellular provider (Bell Mobility) doesn't offer any Bluetooth enabled cell phones, and, though the Customer Service Rep I spoke with today says she gets a lot of requests for Bluetooth, there is no information available about when it will be available.

Worse news: I'm locked into my contract until early 2005, so if I'm tempted to sign up with one of the other providers, I've got to either find someone to take over my plan and pay CDN$25, or pay CDN$99 to break the contract.

Questions:

1. Has anyone got any suggestions for a better, more cost-effective way to connect my T3 using my cell phone plan?

2. Has anyone used this cable I mentioned, or one made by another manufacturer?

3. Does it matter if my phone isn't listed on the list of phones supported by Phone Link?

4. Is there any other inexpensive way to connect my T3 while I'm out and about?

Thanks,

Mike

dang only 99 cdn to void the contract , thats a good deal , im in the same situation u are in and i got my aunt and her boyfriend to just give me money each month and i use it to pay that bill, then i went to another service provider and got me and my girlfriend both bluetooth phones..

i would happily pay 99 to break the contract, unlike the( $525 american ) i would have to have paid..
