By the way, I just read the previous Thread about waitress using wi-fi and palms to connect to the kitchen. What a neat idea. I wonder if the service in the restuarant is higher quality and more efficient using wi-fi technology.
Anyway, I run a site called The Hotspot Haven. Its a global wi-fi hotspot directory.
The Hotspot Haven (http://www.hotspothaven.com)
I started it back in May, 2003 because I was frustrated with the other directories out there. I thought they should be easier to interpret for average users with no wi-fi experience, and be more interactive.
So, I desigend clickable search maps of USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, ASIA, & EUROPE. I also integrates a user rating and reviewing system, so that you may rate the hotspot on quality of service.
Here's the clickable map for USA!
USA HotSpots (http://www.hotspothaven.com/search.asp?country=US)
I did this so that people can have a resource to research hotspots in their neighborhood before shelling out the $30/month or so for service plans to use them.
I'm always trying to make this site better for everyone to use. I have plans to integrate some video tutorials that should be real nice and easy for new users to learn wi-fi. I will also be including Boingo, IPASS, and few other major providers very shortly. I should have close to 17,000 hotspots within next 6 weeks or so.
But let me know what you guys think! After all, this is why I created this thing. If you have any ideas to make it better, I would love to hear them.
We just launched new site March 11th, hope everyone likes it!
I'm trying to spread the word so that I can get more reviews by real wi-fi users, like yourselves. So, if anyone knows any other forums or ways to help get the word out, that will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
