Alright, I am looking to "jazz" up my T615C, but I am having a tough time finding a Launcher that work from the "Skins" section. Should the file end in a ".prc" in order to be used? I really just want a different layout. I am assuing that I utilize "Documents to Go" to sync the file from my desktop to my CLie? I am new at this, so bare with me people. Any help would be great! Thanks

To use one of the skins from the "launchers" section, you need to use one of the third-party launchers. They substitute for the screen you see now when you turn on your Clie.

There are several out there -- Zlauncher, YiShow, Megalauncher, LauncherX, Silverscreen and I'm probably missing a couple. All can be downloaded from www.palmgear.com or www.handango.com for a trial (usually 30 days) so you can poke around with them, read their manuals (which usually give a really good overview of what the launchers do and how to use them) and then pick the one you like -- and play with the themes and skins at the same time.

Most of the stuff -- prcs (skins that have buttons and details; backgrounds that are pictures behind them) can be installed through the standard hotsync conduit -- tho most of those launchers set up directories so you can store them on a memory stick.

They can be installed to the stick on hotsync -- then you would have to move them into the right folder. Some of the backgrounds are jpgs, which will automatically go to the stick (but not necessarily to the right folder). Or you can drag-and-drop them into the memory stick folder with MSImport. A .bmp background will have to go that way because hotsync won't transfer it.

(The memory stick, unlike the main ram, is organized into folders, much like PC or Mac files are).

You could look through the "skins" download section, it gives you a general idea of what the different launcher applications look like. Pick one or two you think might work for you and try them out, it's fun.

The third-party launchers do a lot more than just "pretty up" your Clie -- they help organize and manage the stuff on your handheld, set up shortcuts to get to them, etc. It may be a while before you know exactly which one suits your needs the best.

Hope I read your question correctly and this helps. Lots of launcher discussions in the applications forum here.
