I understand that GigaPocket is a program only available to vaio owners. That you run the program which is a digital recorder of sorts, and after you log onto a server you select "channels and times" and then they are recorded onto your hard drive which can be converted onto your memorystick and played in your NZ or NR. 1 hour of perfectly crisp video can fit onto a 128 mb MS.
Does anyone know more details re: this program such as where do I find the "server" to log onto?
or
Where can I find tech support for this?
P.S.
there is a component of this program called pico pocket player.

My understanding was that it is designed for a cable feed for TV signal. At CompUSA, I was looking at this program and it had "cable " settings. OHM's and such. Not quite sure what you mean by "server"...
Nice program. May sway me towards Sony for my next computer.... Of course, that's the whole idea isn't it? ;)

This isn't hard to do with any old computer. I read an article somewhere (can't remember where) that showed how to do it. It was a while ago so I don't remember very well but it sounded pretty easy. And you can even output it back on your TV.

Video capture card, I believe. Not sure if that functions as a TV tuner card too. I've thought about putting a tuner card in, but I'm pushing my ol' computers limits as it is....
gennarino,
I have Giga Pocket on my Sony desktop, and Pico Player on my laptop. It's a really cool app. - my reason for getting it was not for its TV functionality, but because I wanted to transfer home movies from a VHS onto DVD. (Many of my VHS home movies are 15+ years old, and starting to deteriorate). Occassionally, though, I do tape a TV program and transfer it to my Clie for viewing. And it's a lot of fun to play with! Pico Player will play the "video capsules" (the shows you taped) using Giga Pocket. I use the Sony 5Ghz wireless access point and Lan to access the video capsules from Giga Pocket to Pico Player. I can also use the wireless setup to watch TV programs going into my desktop. In other words, I have a satellite system, with 2 different receivers - one upstairs and one downstairs. The upstairs TV is attached to the Giga Pocket desktop. I can sit in the family room downstairs, and while everyone else is watching a program on the downstairs TV, I can be viewing a different show on my laptop that is accessing the upstairs TV. I don't do this often, because the picture is choppy and the quality not so great, but then the technology is still very new.....
When you have Giga Pocket installed, you simply click on the "TV listings" icon in the Program Manager, and it will take you to the Programming guide for your area - I use Dish Network, so it takes me to that guide for my area. You can set it to record future programs just like you can a VCR. It helps to have high speed internet access, but I don't think that's vital.
It's a neat system, and I use it often, but as I said, not so much for TV programming, but to record my VHS home movies to DVD format. Hope that helps.

The Giga Pocket on my Vaio desktop is used to capture and process any incoming video signal. I use it for digital video from VHS and satalite. The schedule comes from the Direct TV programing for my area. Captured video can then be transfered with the built in memory stick slot on the PC and opened on my 90. All the sony components in the A/V system integrate and the unified sony remote controls all the toys. It is the key to single vendor AV integration. The 90 is just the latest in the integration scheme.

Giga Pocket Clie Converter
OK this is my delimma I have a 256 meg Magicstick Pro and have a Vaio Computer where I can down load movies from cable tv to my computer with GigaPocket Recorder and watch them on my computer or convert them to mpeg and watch them on my Clie PEG-NX70V but the problem I have it that Clie Converter only allows 128 meg to be recorded and then it splits it if over that amount. Does anyone know if there is a update for the Clie Converter that goes over 128meg to record, also what is the best format to record at?
One other thing does anyone know if SonicStage is coming out with a update to handle the MagicGate Pro 256 memory sticks for SonicStage. Sonicstage does not recognize the memory stick at all, it only knows how to see the 128meg white magicgate memory stick.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
