Greetings,

Which standalone GPS unit/antenna works best with a T3 loaded with Mapopolis Navigator software?

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi Paul

Don't know what one is "best" however I use an Emtac BT GPS reciever, works well, small form factor, appears to have good battery life 7-8hrs, though have not had it that long, also use it via BT to my PC with MS Streets and Trips, VisualGPS etc.

I used the Palm branded GPS to get me from Las Vegas to Disneyland then to Palm Springs and back to LV. It was great.

When I still had my T2, I used both a Holux GM210 serial mouse and a Socket (Emtac) BT GPS. Both worked very well. If you get a serial mouse that plugs into your T3's universal connector, be sure to get a cable that is made for Tungstens. The m50x series cable won't work. As long as you have a good connection, the Holus GM210 works great. I prefer the BT because it is cableless, but the BT GPS units cost a lot more.

BTW: Mapopolis just released Navigator 1.30b for the PalmOS. It is supposed to support fullscreen mode and has a 3D mapping option.

I use the Delorme Earthmate GPS with the Blutooth Powerpack with my T3. Sorry if that sounded like an ad, I was holding it in front of my face since I couldn't remember who made it. It works flawlessly with Mapopolis on my palm and a couple of different apps on my laptop. The battery compartment on the powerpack is the real bonus for travel though...it has a rechargable/removable battery inside but it also has slots for AAA's if you can't charge it or run off of a power adapter. They have different options on the Delorme website to fit just about any need. If you can't tell, I love this thing.

Not a bad setup for the price. The fact that the web link is leading you to a page called "noname.html" was a little worrying at first glance though.lol.

Yes I did notice that as well, but it was the best price that I could find. A key note to keep in mind that the Palm GPS solution does not provide voice where this setup with Mapopolis Navigator has voice prompts.

I've been using an i.Trek mouse GPS receiver since November with no problems. It's the cheapest I've seen, and I also like the fact that it's so unobtrusive due to its small size, black color and lack of visible trademarks.

I bought it here:

I use a Radio Shack Digitraveler.

May not be small or have Bluetooth but at $30 clearance price, it works just nice for me.
