Yes, a lot of imaginary people can do it, but you're not one of them.

Ok, for the 5th time IN THIS THREAD, you can't. Plain and simple. The hardware doesn't support the new OS. You're stuck with 4.1 PERIOD. I just saw the sj33 in CC today. Looks somewhat thick, but I like it overall. The buttons are a little small, but it seems like a good pda.

OS 5 requires a ARM based processor to run, so upgrading would essentially be running code designed for a completely different processor. You might be able to change to OS 5 if you completely replaced the CPU (which would mean replacing the board)

but how can upgrade to palm 4.3 or 4.2 ? and i know plam os have multi-version , maybe have support motorola cpu .

Why are you worried about upgrading a new SJ33 to OS5? If OS 4.1 does what you want why worry about it? If you want OS5 then you need to buy a device designed to run it.

All of the Palm OS's before OS 5 support the Motorola Dragonball processors. OS 5 only supports ARM processors. This means that any PDA with a Dragon ball processor can not run OS 5.

All of the upgrades to OS 4 (4.2 and 4.3) were still upgrades on a Dragonball, just as any upgrade to OS 5 will still only support ARM.

It is a hardware issue so there is not much anyone can do about it.

If you really want OS5 in a SJ33 sized device all I can say is wait. Knowing Sony's constant tinkering with their devices we can expect to possibly see an OS5 SJ33 like model before the end of the year, along with an updated NX series that has Bluetooth and other tweaks and many other devices.

Means those are the only devices currently available that are capable of running OS5, that I am aware of.

I don't think anyone here has been able to do it. Perhaps you should ask someone that you know that has done it.

Look, think of PALMOS 5 as a completely different os, that needs new, well everything.

Let's try and rephrase it differently.
Trying to upgrade a SJ33 to Palm OS5 is like trying to upgrade a PPC (Pocket PC) with Mac OSX.
Okay - I may be a bit extreme here - but you get the point!

If someone is claiming that they can do this and won't tell you how - I'd be very sceptical about them.

is it possible that these people are swapping in the internals from an OS5 device into an SJ33?

Importluva

why oh why is this still alive. Theres not point to it. Just get the TT if you want OS5 so badly :p

Register as a developer at www.palmos.com (http://www.palmos.com).

BUT...OS5 will not work on a 4.1 machine.

The 4.1 machines have the wrong processors.  What functionality are you looking for that you can't get with a 3rd party app?

Okay, I guess you can't update the SJ33 to OS 5, but can I upgrade my NR-70 to OS 5?

:P

no, you can't update anything that isn't os5, to os5

Aight, so I have an NX70, can I downgrade to OS4.1? Many people are doing it.

Looks to me like he is saying that in Hong Kong they have been able to put OS5 on the SJ33. Maybe people are loading programs like ClieMemo on the SJ33 like we did back in the day with the NR70, and he is just confused.

I think if you push the springboard card REALLY hard into the CF slot it worked, but don't quote me on that. I don't take responsibility for broken clie's.

Some of history's greatest geniuses never took no for an answer. I don't know much but I do know that there are greater impossibilities that have become a reality than running OS5 on a sj33.

good luck!!! Yll. Don't give up your dream.

If you succeed try getting MS Pocket PC 2002 to run on your Clie.

Do you think it's possible to upgrade my SJ33 to SJ44 by attaching a 2.0 megapixel cybershot U camera??? and flash the ROM to Palm OS5???

=P

How about this: SJ33+OS5=NO. :)

my buddy has an S300 running OS6, it's pretty amazing. If I got another memory stick, do you think I could run OS 5.2? I hear OS 5 is obsolete...

I have a problem - I installed Quickbits (That speed up/hack thing...) . After installing, it cant find any way to improve the speed of my SJ20. But that's not the big deal. I CANT DELETE IT!!! Why? Ive tried many ways to delete it (MS GATE, the normal app launcher way, different launchers...), nothing works. Some programs even reckon its installed in the RAM. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this program? (How do I start a new topic, the site says Im not allowed...)

I figured the "ROFLMAO" part would clue ppl in that it was a joke.
Guess not.

Besides, I don't even have an SJ33, I have a T665.

I think it is ridiculous to have another $300 CLIE that is basically the same as the T-665 with some more battery life and added bulk. The Palm Tungsten-T is now going for $300-325 and it would seem a waste of money to get an old CLIE for the same dollars....
