My SJ30 has a broken back button. I am sending it back to Sony to be repaired. It may take up to two weeks to get it back. I have grown dependent on this PDA to keep my business organized. I am considering buying another SJ30 or an SJ33(the coolness factor) as a back up. Does anyone else feel the need for a second Clie so as not to disrupt their data flow continuum? I could go back to a dayplanner. Nah.

well, you COULD spend another couple hundred for a new PDA, but then again, why should you? Unless you have $$$ burnin a hole in your pocket, then I see no need to.

Actually, I have a spare PDA for just such a purpose - but its a cheapy Visor Neo....better than nothing and it was cheaper than buying another Clie.

I had my Vx as a backup unit but you know....I had my 665 fixed and it did NOT take that long. It was back in my hands in a matter of days. I would use a pen and paper if nothing else is available to keep yourself UTD....Good Luck !!

Part of my dilemma was fending off the little voice in me saying "go for it", with respect to my purchasing an SJ33. I have duplicates of all my business tools so as not to experience any disruptions in my work. Having a second Clie with its memory stick exchangeability made sense. Going back to pencil and paper, even for a short time, is probably prudent. It's just not as much fun.

I am in the process of backing up (from my NR) to my old Palm m500 (very nice form factor BTW).

I use a backup as well, just in case I need to send the main one in for repairs or if I sell it to get a newer model. Right now I'm using my "backup" SJ20 until I can get either a TG50 or if I'm really lucky the NZ90.

Someone rents PDAs for just such emergencies. I do not have the contact, but she posts on one of the Palm boards, I think it is:

If you join and scroll through the messages, you will see her signature which includes the name of her business. Or just try a google search.

I've got a Palm m505 for a backup, but it's wrapped up and put away right now because I have faith in my NR. Hope I never have to pull it out again. I'm hoping next year, I can upgrade and use my NR as a backup.

I use an SJ30 as my backup. But I didn't really intend to do this.

I guess a prudent thing might be to buy a SJ20 on Ebay for backup, that's pretty cheap...

Personally I think a Vx is the best choice at the moment. Cheap(er), more rugged, and not too bulky to carry around as an extra.
