Palm Digital Media has the application you seek:

As I understand it, "DropBook" is free for personal use. See paragraph under system requirements.

If you have a Palm Doc text file you can read it with Palm Reader. If you want to have it in Palm Reader format you can use DocReader to convert it to a txt file first.

I have a How-To (http://www.bryanshome.com/build_palm_reader.html) on my website to make Palm Reader eBooks but you need to have a plain text file first.

There is a freeware Windows document reader, AbiWord (http://www.abisource.com/), which is document compatible with Word (to some degree).

There is a plug-in for the program which enables it to do a Save-As into Palm Doc format as a .pdb file. PalmReader will read those just fine.
