Jacksprat on Zire71

while there's a thread on T3 for Jacksprat, i thought i'll contribute today's experience with Zire71 and jacksprat..

Well first advice: "back up!!!" before u do anytin.. very important..

and secondly... checked ur applications in rom that u jackflashed before... like write a list of wat stuff u jackflashed to rom before if u did... so recovery is easy...

Note: or even better... transfer them back to ram if you got spaces...

this is for the facts that after u jacksprat, when u go back to jackflash, jackflash will ask u to expand the ram... by doin so will actually delete some jackflashed applications and files (which happened to mine)... so i have to restore everytin manually..-_- but everytin's fine now...^^

Then next of cose u back up ur rom by usin jacksprat step 1...
this will only takes bt 7meg and it'll b transfered to your SD card, so get ur SD card ready...

then you can start removin...^^

im not sure how much i recovered from usin jacksprat, which i only removed languages.. and the total of memory that i recovered in jackflash is bt 4-5meg... however there's other application such as modem support ,network support, expense, address book, todo list and even photo capture(now why would i do dat???)...

anyway here is the list of the application that you can removed from rom:

zire 71 has no flash. At least mine does not. Jfals and JSprat say so. i used the nevest versions - 3.0b11

Im using jackflash 3.0b8 and jacksprat 3.0b3... i found out that i only gain 4.9 meg of rom space... mine is australian version... mayb thats the problem... although i find that wierd if palm would release diff versions with or without flash... i can post screnshots of proof if u want... but as i was sayin... u dun gain as much rom as T3 when flashing Zire71...

jus to let u know, i only put these in rom:

agendus pro
bugme
cjkos and fonts
decuma(2 out of total 5 files)
filez
hilauncher
noviiremote(dun put databases in rom)
pidraw
piphoto
zlauncher(only the program, notin else!! or u'll stuff it up)

and i still got 560k left of space..
tried aeroplayer and ptunes but they jus stuffed up...

how? it let you? amazing! mine claims no rom found, end exits. STUPID PALMone! i shall try to get 3.0b8 to try it too

actually my jackflash and jacksprat is a full version of cose.. but even with the trial jackflash they shoul inform how many flash is available... but i found that jackflash is so unstable... not jacksprat... you cant rewi move things back and fro 2 the ram and flash without it crashing after doin that bt 5 times..-_- its kinda random crashes but when it hit, i hav 2 remove everytin 2 flash again...-_- dats troublesome... so far im tryin not 2 play wit it too much and jus stick with wat i already moved...

mine are full version too, i tried the neves onbes today, and the same thing - your device contains no flash and is not supported. Same on my friend's PDA, but on another's Zire 71 it worked, therefore it worked only on EFIGS models, not on standard US versions. :-(
