Palm Desktop ceased working

I installed the palm desktop (4.1), it worked for about 10 minutes, then my calendar got all funky and I couldn't read the activities in my calendar, it was just a solid color instead of having the activity name and time and such. So I tried restarting, rehotsyncing, re-everything, rebooting, and nothing fixed it. So I uninstalled the palm desktop and reinstalled it (4.0 and 4.1) and now I can't hotsync or even get into the Palm Desktop software, it won't recognize my palms name, and when I try to start a "new account" or whatever, nothing happens.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I just uninstalled every piece of palm software, rebooted, then reinstalled it. now as I go through the steps, it wants to me enter my "user" name or whatever. So I do, the same one I did before, then it wants to perform the "initial hot sync", and I do that, and then it asks if I want to make a new user, and anything I do after that just stops the process and I get a hotsync problem error on the Palm that says nothing more than "Hot Sync operation was terminated"

what else can I do? There's gotta be a solution to this... how can the palm desktop just not work anymore? please someone help.
