View Full Version : T3 versus Sony TH55 Question
What are the side by side specs for the T3 and the soon to be released Sony TH55? Has anyone put such a comparisson together?
It's not "side by side" but in case anyone is interested here's the specs pages for each device:
Sony TH55 (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=BYPUISG9DAzUJWGPGHzeKm6xfFkhsuGS-WQ=?CategoryName=hp_Multimedia&Dept=hp&TemplateName=item%2fsy_item_b&ProductSKU=PEGTH55%2fU)

I did some checking and found out my T3 is far superior than the TH55.
The TH55 uses Sony's "Sony Handheld Engine™ CPU" and notice that they don't give you a speed indicator. I think it's somewhere around 140mhz.
It only has 32 MB available for storage.
It does have 320x480 screen.
The TH55 also has WiFi. I'd like that on my T3. It also has a camera which I'd like on my T3.
I still think my T3 is awsome and will continue to use it for quite some time.
I think it funny that Sony's TJ37 and TJ27 have a 200 mhz processor and this heavy large TH55 only has roughly 140mhz.

While the Handheld Engine is slower, it produces greater battery life.
I would like landscape mode and some more memory, but I'm so tired of worrying about battery life on my Sony T665 that I'm willing to go slow for the extra time without recharging.
Also, I like the camera, WiFi, the thinner form factor, and the lack of slider in the TH55.

The lack of landscape support on the TH55 is a deal breaker for me, as it was on the NR70 and every VG portrait Clie since.
Now that OS6 won't initially support portrait/landscape switching and SONY is no longer developing proprietary APIs, I guess Clies will still have this disadvantage for a while to come.

I think you may have been confused by the announcment from Sony.... They didn't say they were not going to develop APIs ... They said they would use the standard APIs "whenever possible" ....

Quite possible, but why has SONY never addressed this issue from the NR70 until the TH55?
