View Full Version : Auto Off suggestion?

Lately, I have been having problems with the Auto-Off not working (and an auto on ghost working) in the SJ-30. Anyone else with this problem? Hard and soft resets have been done, but no change.

I am going through my 3rd re-load of my Clie files in 3 weeks. I first noticed that my Clie was "ON" several times when I had not turned it on. I figured I or something may have bumped it, even with the cover in place. But Auto-Off is set for 2 minutes. Even this doesn't work when it goes into this "auto-on" mode. Actually I noticed this a couple of times when it was on my desk and Nothing was near it, so there was No Bump to activate it, but I am allowing for it.

Strangely, I can turn it on for work, and it WILL auto-off in 2 minutes in that situation.

The battery totally runs out and has done this 3 times now. Nothing left on the Clie except what is in the ROM from the factory. With it totally dead, if any prefs are corrupt, they should be erased too - at least in my opinion.

Any Ideas?

I use backupMan, and Wassup...If backupman is set to do a backup in the middle of the night and Wassup is set to come on after 30min (or anytime at all) them wassup comes on and backupman keeps it from turning off, resulting in a dead clie the next day...maybe your problem is something like mine.

Thanks for your replies. StayOff / Stay Off Hack seems to be just what I need.

As to a Software problem or something set to auto-on or auto-wake, I couldn't remember setting anything to do that. Since I use the Clie primarily for appointment schedules, and nothing is set to alarm, I decided on the third install to put only the default software with addresses, memos and datebook. There should not have been anything in that install to turn it on, my only other alternative it to think that the cover is bumping the buttons. It has now done it 4 times.

Again, I appreciate both of you taking the time to post an answer.

Hank

Are you using mega clock? check the option>preference and set chime to off. If the chime is set to on, then your clie will switch on by itself every hour.
