Palm Zire 71 speaker stopped working

I have owned a palm zire 71 for a year and have enjoyed it very much. this week, the speaker stopped working all of a sudden. i can hear music and the alarms thru the headphones, but not the speaker. can anyone help me fix this.

This happened to me too. There is a switch that turns the speakers off when the headphones are plugged in. It sounds like this switch is stuck and it thinks your headphones are plugged in.

Look in the earphone jack hole. There is a small metallic bump under the face about 2 mm deep. I got a paper clip and pushed this switch up and down a few times. After doing this, my external speakers worked fine. HTH
