Hello,

I bought some ebooks on PalmDigitalMedia and they are "forever" avaiable on my bookshelf. I really liked that.

But there is a book "S.C.E. Omnibus: Some Assemble Required" that they do not offer. I found it on www.powells.com but it is available for 20 downloads... :(

Is there a way I could put this book (bought on another site) on my bookshelf? I do not dare asking it to PDM... :D

I asked PDM if they would offer this ebook but got an automatic reply telling me to talk to the publisher, but powells got it. Do you know how I could write to a person on PDM?

I also found the book on Simon&Schuster. But it is more expensive... :(

Oh! What do you think of Powells? Is it a good store? Reliable? Secure?

I hear you - I like the PDM bookshelf and will only buy from them for this reason. I've had real responses from people at PDM (not just automated replies). I would try emailing again (through the CONTACT link at the top of the PDM page, then click on GENERAL INFORMATION and a form for emailing will pop up) Write that Powell's, one of their competitors, has the ebook for sale so it must be available in a digital format, and ask why PDM does not carry it. You might also want to add that you want to buy from PDM because of their handy bookshelf feature.

I'm almost certain that you will not be able to add any ebooks purchased elsewhere to your PDM bookshelf.

I've never purchased an ebook from Powell's, but I have purchased print books there. They are a very reliable, top notch bookstore. Actually, they are one of the last large independent book-sellers in the US. I live within walking distance of their flagship store. A great place for any and all book lovers to visit if you ever find yourself in Portland, OR.

Hope this helps. Good luck Jose Luis!

Yes, this is a great feature of PDM and Fictionwise. Once you download the eBook, you have unlimited re-downloads. I would suggest that you burn to CD-R any eBooks from places that don't have such a bookshelf. It is the only way to ensure you always have the eBook available.

Thanks for your help! :D

I think a bookshelf you can only download SOME times is quite useless!!!

I don't understand why they don't change it...

But I sent a message to PDM, hoping they realize they're loosing money (even if is only $2.99!)...

BTW, why some of them charge 2.99 (Powell's) while others charge $5.64? Isn't it the same publisher?

It depends on how much the ePublisher has signed on to pay in royalties per sale/title. Maybe they make a larger percentage if they sell a larger volume of title? More likely, I would guess they just want to sell for less to attract new and repeat business.
