Theoretically, you can piggyback off of wireless network around town to surf the internet. AKA warwalking, warchalking, wardriving? It's free if you can find a non-secure wireless network, and lots of generous people are willing to share their wireless network. Anyone try it yet? I think this is can be a big movement for NX70V users.

Yes; I do it almost everyday, during my travels around the city(SF)
the most surprizing, was when I was at a local hospital, and was able to check my email, and surf.

Is it really free or just that some don't know how to keep their connection secure?
What happens if some sickie downloads child porn?
Is the owner of the LAN responsible?
How about terrorist activities?
Both things, some people dont know how to secure it, some people dont want to, i dont think the owner of the LAN is responsible if anything happens dont quote me on that though. And it is not illegal as you are not breaking into anything (physical or virtual)

Thank you!
These are questions I don't have an answer too. I would hate to see innocent people get hurt, that's all.

I believe that if the owner of the wireless LAN chooses not to filter content then it IS NOT the fault of the LAN owner if someone uses the LAN for illegal purposes. The same principle (Common Carrier Act) applies to ISPs, so I would think that this is the same. IANAL.

Every now and then I try the same thing with bluetooth. I'm just waiting for the day when I find someone's BT cell phone. *evil grin*

I had just brought a SE T68 back with me from Italy. And was happily sitting watch a demo of BT technology. The demonstrators had no idea what the "stray" BT device they were picking up was, all they know was that it was confusing the script they had been given to perform (select the first device in the list) :)
I then decided to have some fun with them. For the NEXT demo, I changed the id on my device from T68 to "h4><0rd". The demo after that it was "Compaq Sux".
After that, they figured out how to do device pairing and avoided the discovery part of the demo. It was childish and immature for me to do this ... but relieved the boredom of manning a booth at the show :D

:D I do this quite alot when I'm at work - Fire up my laptop plug in the BT dongle and send useless contacts to people with their BT turned on!
One good thing is that, as far as I know, it's impossible to use someones BT connection without pairing up the 2 devices and even then the request to phone out on a BT connection you still need to acknowledge the call! - I tried this on my mates phone! :D

My thoughts were more in line with using the wireless LAN card, no exp with BT.
