My wife's 615C decided it won't synchronize with the cradle anymore (it synchronizes ok through the IR port). I put it in the cradle, pressed the hotsync button and nothing happened. I tried with another 615C and it worked. Therefore, I eliminated the possibility of having a cradle or PC problem.
I did a soft reset but nothing changed.
I then decided to open the PDA - I have some experience in fixing the monochrome Sonys. However, this one is quite different. Instead of having al the circuitry sitting on the back of the PDA as the b&w, this one has everything on the front (together with the screen), making the access to the components much more difficult. In a visual limited inspection, I didn't find anything wrong. I made sure all the flat cables were connected, etc. However, the flat cable I was interested into - the one from the charging/syncing connector, I couldn't check, as it goes under the battery and a PWB and I wasn't able to reach the other end of the cable.
I then reassembled everything and, surprise surprise, now the unit not only does not synchronize, but also does not charge (the green light on the cradle and the orange on the PDA do not turn on).
I was wondering if anyone:
1- faced a similar problem and knows the solution, or
2- Has the Service Repair Manual, or
3- Knows how to further disassemble the PDA to reach the other end of the flat cable.
By the way, the PDA is out of warranty and it is not cost effective to send it back to Sony. I already listed it on ebay to sell it as is, although I would rather fix it.
Thanks in advance.
