ZLauncher for the m500

I tried downloading ZLauncher today, the 3.7 stable version. Once downloaded, based on the recommended gray scale, it was almost impossible to view the small icons. I tried to download other themes, but they would not install. Has anyone else has this issue?

ZLauncher will work with many different theme resolutions to accomodate all the different Palm, Sony, Handera, etc. handhelds.

Here's a list of the resolutions supported:


High Res 64K Color Theme = Clies (320x320 or higher) 65536 colors
High Density OS5 Theme = Palms (320x320 or higher) 65536 colors
High Res 256 Color Theme = Clies (320x320 or higher) 256 colors
High Res 16 Color Theme = Clies (320x320 or higher) 16 colors
Std Res 64K Color Theme = Palms/Clies (160x160) 65536 colors
Std Res 256 Color Theme = Palms/Clies (160x160) 256 colors
Std Res 16 Color Theme = Palms/Clies (160x160) 16 color greyscale


The only theme resolution that might work with your m500 is the last one listed, Std Res 16 Color Theme, and that's if the m500 has 16 greyscale resolution. Unfortunately, the handhelds that this theme resolution was designed for are getting old and few people have them, so designers are reluctant to spend a lot of time creating them.

Try to search for Std Res 16 Color Themes.

Look in the themes folder in the archive - install the 256 color Blue Hi Contrast theme - it works great on my m500.

I tried loading the 256 Blue Hi Contrast Theme, but when I tried to load the program, it says: No available theme for this device. Please install at least one theme which matches the device." Am I missing something here?

You may have installed the wrong one for the m500... There are three different BlueHiCon themes within the "Themes" folder...

This one will work for the m500:
1. ZLT_BlueHiCon_Std_256.PRC

These two will not work, as they are for Hi-Res devices and Sony devices:
1. ZLT_BlueHiCon_Hi_256.PRC
2. ZLT_BlueHiCon_SonyHR_256.PRC

If you have mistakenly installed either of these two, simply delete them via the "Theme Manager" or the "delete" option in the standard launcher and install the proper one.

If you want, I can direct you to some decent themes for the m500 (they are good themes, but I use "decent" to describe them due to the lackluster display on the m500... BlueHiCon definitely is one of the best)

Thanks for the help! Now I just need to figure out how to lighten the background. It is VERY dark, but at least now I can see the icons. Previously, I could not see the icons on the screen. I would appreciate the theme information as well. You have been very helpful!
