I tried to buy a T3 at BestBuy and the Cust Svc rep told me they were sold out and a new product was coming January 18th.

T4? TE2? Why is PalmOne running under such short product cycles???? it's getting frustrating.
My T3 that I bought at Best Buy died Tuesday night, and I took it back, since I bought their service plan, and was told basically the same thing as Jonathan, but without the firm date of January 18th that he was given. One of the technicians I spoke with where they do PC upgrades told me that he heard they were being called "Multimedia PDAs" instead of a plain PDA. I really hope the January 18th date is right, because that is sooner than the vague "Late January or early Febuary" I was given.
To me it almost sounds like PalmOne decided to take a page out of Sony's book and just release new products ever couple of months.

I hope they don't take too many pages.

Maybe TE2... its ok if it would fall into that category... cheap and good for entry users... im not sure which line will they choose to have the OS6, it seems that OS5.3 and OS6 would sell in parallel.

AND considering what happend to T3 the next unit can be another "beta" or a final one with fixes that they learned from T3 user's experiences... a great unit that has ugly flaws (i own one)

dduran, just curious, what flaws, not disagreeing, just wondering what you consider flaws? I have only had mine about 3 weeks and so far love it other than a slight screen issue on the one end but I still love the screen.

From everything I've seen on the forums, the T3 is extremely popular. I'd be very surprised if Palm stopped selling such a successful product so soon after introduction. Palm's history is of quite long product lives for successful products. However, what would not be surprsing is a T3.5 (call it a T4 if you want) that's an upgraded T3 just like the T2 is an upgraded T. There are already rumours about the next Zire and T|E. I'm sure there's something in the T|T line or possibly a replacement for the T|C or T|W.
Is the T3 going to be obsolete - hardly. Will there be something newer and potentially better - of course, there always is.
Personally, I'm thrilled with my new (1 month old) T3. What a great PDA.
Just my .02 worth.

I will go for upgrade if the upcoming model is OS6

I'm kinda think'n like Bob and keelin, "if" there is a new "T3.5" probably be the same hardware, with new ROM -OS6 (with SD fix and the other DB problem noted by the DatBK5 developer, etc), just cause the date mentioned is so close and I think we would have seen leaks outta China, just like we have in the past.
I can only cross my fingers if that's the case maybe there will be a ROM upgrade for OS6 for the rest of us.
Just a thought :-)
matrix42, I doubt that any new models that would come out by mid to late January would have OS 6 on them. PalmSource announced that it shipped OS 6 on time" to the licensees, which would have been December 29th. Even 30 days wouldn't be enough time for customizing the software to work with the hardware, and then testing for compatibility and stability. If my memory serves me, there was about a 5 month gap between when the OS 5 shipped to licensees, and when the first OS 5 devices went on sale. I think we can expect the same kind of delay before we see the first OS 6 devices.
Just my thoughts : )

Very true. IMHO, if the T|E2 and Z31 handhelds are released this month, I think they'll have OS 5 as this will probably be the OS for midrange PDAs for a few more months (OS4 was still midrange 'till late 2003).
And even if OS6 was released on PDAs late this month, there wouldn't be any OS6 specific programs as the SDK won't be released 'till February 10th at the Palm OS Developers Conferance in San Diego.
Flaws in T3?
... Well, It's a very good PDA but I agree it's something of a "beta".
I was particularly interested in it because of the enhanced PIM functions but...
1. AS described by CES, the author of Datebk5 there exits suboptimal coding in the management of the databases which causes errors. For example, datebk5 "To Do's" do not properly log the completion date as the current date that it is checked off. Instead it logs the "To Do" as completed on the due date. This problem never existed before and I've been using datebk since datebk3.
2. The Palm supplied Outlook conduit does not properly synchronize completed "Tasks". If however you use the "To Do" database and sync using Chapura's conduit, then no prob.
I hope there will be patches for these and any other T3 problems in the near future. If however, Palm simply ignores these issues then I will be moving back to Sony in the future...
