I was one of the users who had their T3 lockup when using the latest beta, so I waited awhile until Brayder said that JF was fine but JS had some issues.
I reinstalled JF, and it works fine, but do I need JS to remove or even see the built in items in flash?
thanks

Yup Jacksprat shows you what in ROM/Flash and lets you remove it.

Yup, like matrix42 said, JS is the one to remove built-ins.

P.S> Although I personnally lack the intestinal fortitude to try it out there is a "demo" you can install that will show you whats in flash and the sizes

Thanks guys... but I think that I will wait till they update it rather than try the demo :) at least JF works fine
one lockup like that is enough... sitting around for the battery to die

Well I have the demo installed and it reports the following:
On a T3:
Free ROM ( to start) 1088k
and a few of the things I would remove, cause I think they are safe
Extra Languages: 4800K
DocstoGo: 1156K ( Have upgraded)
RealOne: 858K ( I use P-tunes)
Kinoma: 268K (Have upgraded)
So that would be 8,170K free all together..
My question is kinda about order of use, as I recall JackFlash need to prepare/format flash, so do you do that first or do you use JackSprat to remove stuff and then prepare flash (If your goint to use both)??

wow, a lot of space from extra languages...
I probably wont remove docstogo and kinoma as I will upgrade and then replace them in ram..
I am not sure about order of use...

Yea I have upgraded both Docs to Go and Kinoma so I have the newer versions already in RAM so I do not need the Flash versions anymore..
THe Photo App is also a big one but I seem to recall seeing that taking it out could cause problems???

I deleted the PhotoApp, no problems so far.
I have used JSprat first, (8400 kb freed) then JFlash (moved 8400 kb to flash!!!) but then JSprat again (I too upgraded Kinoma, so i wanted those 120 some kb too for my flash). NO problem here. I have had hard resets previously, but not this time. Just a soft reset after the operation. BTW JFlash detects the new flash size (larger) and "expands" the flash before letting you change it with the new size.
I look forward the update, both JSprat and JFlash, since I hope PalmOne issues a VersaMail update (well, conduit is really a disaster, but a new, improved PDA app would be welcome, VM is now in ROM). As for JFlash, I keep moving apps from/to Flash when updates appear.

alex, do you have a T3? no problems with Jack sprat?

I have a T3, and there is a serious problem: HARD RESETS (ie, after just startarting jack sprat... you loose everything, so download a copy of your favouritye backup app to begin with...). but they are not systematic. Brayder's web has posted a notice for T3 and E users, and I hope the new "beta" (they are always in beta stage, so I read here) will be more stable.
Otherwise, it works nicely most of the time. I have used it with my previous TT (no jackSprat for it, only JFlash), and I kept moving things from/to flash. One of the apps I purchased first, and at that time I only gained two Megs of free flash.

Since I experienced that hard reset ( having to drain the battery) I think I will wait till they release an update... I used jack flash a lot on my 505, and it seems to play nice with the T3 so I will stick with that..
not like I am hurting for space anyways... 31MB free, most apps are on the card

Pardon my ignorance, but I've read all the threads for JackFlash/JackSprat and the purpose of JackSprat eludes me. I understand that it is supposed to help you delete apps from ROM, but if there never was such a beast for the T1, then it can't really be all that necessary, can it?

Consider getting about 8+ megabytes of available space for applications, or the possibility to update the versions stored in ram (Kinoma, DocsToGo, Versamail, Realplayer, etc), without occupying the extra space. With EFIGS (multilanguage) T1, there were just TWO available megs in RAM, and no Jack Sprat to delete unused apps, but even that seemed an enormous amount of space (2 is one 7th of the total available 14 for that PDA).
