Zlauncher 2.22B8 here:
http://www.zztechs.com/en/zlauncher/download.php4
Just stumbled across it, I'm not really sure what's new; seems like the list includes some items in previous betas. . .

Well, OK, I can see a couple of new things -- you can program Quicklaunch to a hard button; Quicklaunch setup is now part of the popup setup list.
Anita
2.22 Beta 8 - 02/28/2003
Added ability to preview supported picture files and Background Image database in full screen(inside or outside the Theme Manager).
Added ability to activate the next tab by entering the "Space" character, and activate the previous tab by entering the "Back Space" character.
Added an option to set ZLauncher as the default launcher or not. If the option is on, ZLauncher will be the default launcher even after a soft reset.
Added an option to hide the Toggle Fullscreen button on the bottom bar on Clie NR/NX series.
Added an option to make the records in the QuickLaunch+ list unique.
Added an option for disabling the text shadow of the active tab.
Added HiRes+ support for the Path Tree.
Added a new option to the Hard Button Setup for going to the Theme Manager.
Added an option to enable or disable displaying the Card app tag.
Added an option for disabling the auto popup of the tools panel.
Now drag & drop is also available for the Info/Category/New Tab/Trash Bin buttons on the bottom bar.
Improved the Launching/Copy/Move progress dialog, now you can abort the operation freely.
Reduced the dynamic memory usage on low resolution handhelds, that increases the compatibility on these handhelds.
Fixed the incorrect behavior of scroll button of popup list.
Added support for viewing images with AcidImage.(This feature requires AcidImage 2.4n or higher version)
Provided basic compatibility with Jot 2.0.
Solved the problem of disabling the Virtual Graffiti function on Sony Clie NR series after returning from MS Dict 2.02.
Basically solved the problem of slow redrawing when launching an application if Butterfly Hack is active.
Fully support for Palm Tungsten | W.
Better HiRes+ support.
Fixed the inaccurate information of Memory and Exp. Card buttons on some occasions.
"Auto hide tab captions" was moved to the Display Setup form, "ROM Tag" was moved to the Icon Setup form.
Miscellaneous updates and bug-fixed.
Something is wrong with the reading of internal RAM in the upper bar. Mine keeps going from 2.0M (actual) to 1.10M??? I don't know why, but it just happened after installation.

Staying constant on mine (T665). Do you have something like Word to Go app on the stick and a doc open? I.e., something running from MS that has copied itself into Ram and is still open?
I just did that on mine (with Word to Go) but it only changed the memory reading once, staying constant.

Well, that's a nice gift for the weekend. I suspect ZZTechs can read minds. It seems that before I get a chance to e-mail them with a request, they release a new version with it implemented.

Not doing any of that and now it seems to be constant. I don't understand what goes on with this thing half the time:) Thanks for the info though:)

at the risk of being flamed to a cinder..
i LOVE zlauncher; but couldn't they cool off on the revisions and instead create some more themes and (pls pls pls) more high res icon libraries?

weren't most of these things already dealt with in 22.2b7? what is different in 2.22b8?

That is what I thought too, but this is their documentation and it does not list the other betas. It might be cumulative.

This is the same list as caem with B6. I suspect there are more bug fixes rather than anything new. Note that they're still calling it a beta. Of course their beta stability is better than a lot of other software's release stability.

One of the additions is new MegaLauncher style drop down rows of tabs. They have also fixed the problem of the NR task bar clock not updating after launching a DA with ZLauncher. Can now preview both version 1 and version 2 bmps images in both RAM and MS. Using preview and HRCapt can convert ZLauncher bmp images to standard bmp images that can be converted to jpg. I used that ability to save nearly 270k each of storage space on a couple of ZLauncher specific backimages. This one has a more stable feel than the previous v2.22 betas.

In what ways were the previous betas unstable??

Where is this option located?

Didn't find them unstable in the "crash" sense, just several little bugs, such as disappearing NR Buttons icons, backimage preview issues, task bar clock update issue, and performance didn't seem as crisp. If you will notice, I didn't say the previous betas were unstable, I said this beta has a more stable feel to it.

Little arrow in upper right corner of tab mode, or tap the current tab in upper right corner of compact mode. If you press the back button you get the drop down list of tab, the way it was before.
It's automatic, I don't think there is any checkbox necessary.
Unless I have a different beta. ZZTechs sent me mine yesterday. It is v2.22B8 build 030227

Thanks for the quick reply, but I don't see a little arrow in Tab mode. I have been unable to make beta 8 do anything different than beta 7 did.
I have 2.22B8 build 030228, maybe there was a change.

Mine has had a little down arrow in the upper right corner for several versions. Tapping it displays a drop down list of all tabs that are not hidden. The arrow is there only in tab mode. In compact mode, tapping the current tab in upper right corner gives you a drop down list of all non-hidden tabs.. I am using the default skin, if that makes any difference. In tab mode, the arrow is just to the right of the tab scroll control arrows.
I know it's there, I'm really not crazy, I'm looking at it right now. Yep it's ZLauncher not MegaLauncher I'm running.

Um, I thought that's always been there (the drop-down category list when tabs scroll beyond screen)??

The little down arrow in tab mode only shows up if you have more tabs than that can fit on the screen, along with the scroll tab buttons.

ZZTechs has really spoiled us, we now expect significant feature additions just between B7 and B8 of the same version. They already add more features in a .01 upgrade than most developers add in a 1.0 upgrade. I think most of the changes between the two betas were bug fixes.

I just downloaded ZLauncher from ZZTechs and got v2.22B8.1 build 30301. That little down arrow has been there for a while. At least since I've been evaluating (2.2 or 2.21 I think). On mine, it displays all the tabs. The current tab is highlighted. Not having MegaLauncher, I don't know what the reference is about. But I don't see anything new yet. I'm using the new skin by Juni.

good point. I didn't even think about it like that.

I thought you meant a different way to display the Tabs, in 2 rows like MegaLauncher. The drop down list of categories/Tabs has been a feature for many, if not all, versions.
I don't have so many Tabs that there are the Tab scroll arrows.
So, I think everything is OK :)

I did mean it now displays rows of tabs, like MegaLauncher instead of the drop down list. I have four rows of four tabs each. The drop down list is still there if you press the back button, but the arrow displays rows of tabs instead.

I will assume that because I have only 9 Tabs that this feature has not manifested itself on my T665.

Sid, I guess ZZTechs is trying to make me crazy. I just downloaded and installed the B8 build on their web site and the MegaLauncher style tab rows are gone. Maybe they are concerned about copyright issues with Megasoft.

Well, I'd like to see it because I sure don't know what you're talking about <g>. I was just going through and unhiding the tab captions (yawn) so that I could get the scroll bar. I still only have ONE row of tabs (10 in that row) and get the scrollbar and the drop-down category list, not tabs.
Do you have some deal going with your analyst, if you can drive the rest of us nuts and send some business his/her way??? <g>
Anyway, wasn't ZZtechs going to add side tabs eventually? That would require rebuilding the themes, tho, wouldn't it?

Be sure and mention my name when you go to her. She gives me free Palm software for each one of you I refer. She says it's good for her business.
If you really want to see it, pm me your email and I'll send you a copy of that version and my analysts phone number.:D

I've got the pic and your not crazy. What a relief. I began to wonder about you:):p
It would be nice to implement such a feature.
One thing I noticed about ZL is that when you use your graffiti to enter the first letter of a program it only brings that first letter to the top of the page if it is not on that page. If the "Ps" are at the last line viewable then it just goes to the bottom line and then blinks, not showing all the apps that begin with "P" that it can. ML is an example of how to do it right in this situation.

I went to the ZZtechs site and:
- Zlauncher.zip (full package) is B8.1 build 030301
- Zlauncher.prc (program only) is B8build 030228
even though the only file that has changed recently in the .zip file is the main program! That's backwards, zz guys ! :D

Tixx and Anita,
The Megalauncher style tab rows, like the screenshot I sent you, will be in v2.30. I received the following from ZZTechs this morning.
"The mutil-row tabs is a new feature of ZL. Since we don't fully
test it yet, we'll won't release it until v2.30. We are busy testing
and bug fixing v2.22 at the moment."
These people are a genuine pleasure to deal with. I almost feel embarassed that I only paid $12 for all this service and a fabulous product to boot.
Since I'm really not crazy, I'm firing my analyst this afternoon, after my session.
:D   :p :(

Nice followup, did they leak what else would be in 2.30 <G>? Are they jumping straight to 2.3 or will we have 2.23, 2.24, etc. etc.? I've really only got one wish for Zlauncher these days -- that the background drops off automatically in list and details view, or at least in detail view.
I hope the tab thing is an option tho. But maybe I'll like them when I see them. I have to remind myself that the screenshots are twice as big as the Clie screen <g> . .

They didn't leak anything else to me, but I believe they have previously indicated full file management was coming early this month, possibly v2.3. I'm under the impression that 2.3 comes after 2.22.
In the copy I have, the tabs aren't an option, when you tap the down arrow, but you can still get the drop down list by using the back button. I suspect they will make the tabs an option when they are released.
