If I go back to my Sony from the T3, how do I convert my address files to be read by my Sony.
I moved the address (contacts) file to my Sony and it won't load or read them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You will also have problems converting Datebook and Notepad data and possibly Memopad data. I briefly owned a TT3 but took it back before they came out with the SD card fix. (I'm going to wait for a high-end OS 6 Palm before going high-end again.) When I tried to copy the TT3's *.dat files over to my TT2 they wouldn't work. Fortunately, I had the original *.dat files from my NX60 that I had copied over to the TT3, so I didn't lose much data. Good thing I'm a Packrat! ;)

Have you tried using the addressbook database? Or, what do you sync with? Can't you just sync the data back?
Have you considered "Beam Category"? Seems like it'd be useful, only, or maybe a 3rd party app which manages contacts would be useful in a situation like this.

Well, I think the problem is that the T3 uses a different structure and calls them contacts instead of address.
I tried beaming and syncing the contacts over to no avail. Unfortunately, when I switched from the NX70 to T3 I moved the files instead of copying them so I don't have a backup for the NX70 address files. I do have an older copy so I may have to use it and just go through and fix them all. What a pain.

You're correct. I tired beaming and syncing both memopad and notepad and they won't work either. The clie froze as well as the desktop.
How depressing.

I know. They changed the PIM apps for the T3. They are actually better than before, but not backwards compatible. I wonder if there is a way to export the contacts to a CSV file. If so, you could then import them into your NX70.

I'm awaiting a response from Palm about this. I'll let you know what they say.
It sure would be nice if they'd let you know this kind of inromation when upgrading the Palm Desktop. At least we should have the option of saving a backup file in both versions.

I discovered how to export to CSV, addresses anyway. Open the Palm Desktop application. It contains your addresses as they are on your TT3. If you've changed any addresses on your TT3 then hotsync first to make sure the Palm Desktop has these changes.
With the Palm Desktop opened, click the Address button, or whatever it is called with the TT3.
Now choose File --> Export. This displays the Export As dialog box.
In the File Name field, enter a filename. Be sure to give it a .csv extension name.
From the Export Type selection list, select Comma Separated (*.CSV; *.TXT).
In the Range field, select the All option export all addresses in the selected category.
Click the OK button to export the records.
In the Specify Export Fields dialog box, check each field that you use or check all of the fields.
Click the OK button to close the Export Completed dialog box.
Give a little while to write up instructions on how to import these records back into the NX70.
I made some changes to the instructions above.

Before you uninstall the Palm Desktop software used with your TT3, be sure to copy the Palm folder under a different name just to be safe. In other words, copy c:\Program Files\Palm to something like c:\Program Files\TT3_Palm_Backup_Folder.
After you install the Palm Desktop software used with your Clie NX70v, complete the following instructions.
Open the Palm Desktop you use with your NX70v and click the Address button.
Click on the Category selection list field and select the Edit Categories... option.
Add all the categories of addresses you want to import.
After adding all your address categories, click on the Category selection list field and select a category in which to import addresses.
Click File --> Import to display the Import dialog box.
In the Files of Type selection list field, select Comma Separated (*.csv; *.txt).
Locate the CSV file you created when you exported the addresses from your TT3 for the selected category, select the file and it should be displayed in the File Name field.
Click the Import button to display the Specify Import Fields dialog box.
Follow the instruction in the Specify Import Fields dialog box to match each field in your import file to the correct Palm Address field. You only need to do this for the first record.
Click the OK button.
Click the OK button to close the message dialog box that tells you how many records were imported.
Repeat steps 4-11 for each category you want to import.
I hope this helps.

Since I sync w/ Outlook, it was a breeze for me to upgrade and it'll be a breeze to go back.
If you can, I suggest syncing w/ Outlook, then setup the Clie and do the same.

I can beam from my T3 to the NX70, NX80, and my Bluetooth phone via IR. You have to beam from inside the application, not the files. BeamPro also works well as I have been experimenting here just to be sure I give you the right information!
It is also true that the PIMs on the T3 are stored and backed up differently for more security.
I can state that it all works as advertised. I don't know if you have any security turned on that would prevent beaming your data.
The NX70 was hard reset(dead battery) and it took ALL the PIM info that I could beam to it!!!:)
