Hi Kenny!
Have you actually tried it? Any idea how much FlashROM is available?
Thanks!

How about just under 8meg with languages and DTG removed.

Hi Larry,
Yes, I am actually using it and have even restored ROM just to test out JackSprat. It worked fine for me except for the documented issue where sometimes a crash would cause a lock up that only draining the battery will cure.
This is however a very rare occurance and you'll not lose anything in Flash. I managed to get around 10 MB if I remove the usual applications that are being replaced by better 3rd party apps including languages (4MB).
I replaced the following:
Photos -> AcidImage
Kinoma -> MMPlayer
SMS -> FunSMS
NotePad -> BugMe
DocsToGo -> Later version
These are the main ones.

the news item says that they acknowledge that there may be a problem using it with a T3. It doesn't specifically say that it's been fixed on the T3.
Is the current version available for download include all the fixes for the T3?

NO ... not yet.
I contacted Brayder yesterday and they came back saying they were 'hoping' to have a fix for the T3 problem by the end of this week. So at least we know that it's going to be very soon.
Best wait until the fix is out.

Ah, you just reminded me why I wanted it, one is to upgrade Docs to Go with the newer version, getting rid of the Real-One player, etc....
Thanks!:)

Never used Jacksprat before... Does it actually give you a list of software that you are allowed to get rid of? Also does it delete on an application (with all related files) or individual file basis?
looking to get rid of at least
DTG
VersaMail
Expense
Kinoma
Maybe SMS

If it's anything like JackFlash, then it's individual files. Versa Mail for example is comprised of a million files, well almost... :)

Search on some discussion threads on getting rid of VersaMail. Kenny can probably speak to that, if memory serves me correctly. There was some problem that would crop up if the VersaMail related files were deleted; it might have been resolved.
I think JS showed two VersaMail entried that could be deleted.

JackSprat lists full applications only, like in the standard delete option, and erases all associated files without further intervention, and also gives an option to delete extra languages. I deleted a few apps and then all four languages that I don't use (previous Tungsten sold in the USA were English only, no much gain, there, but I don't know T3). You don't have many options, but in a broad sense, that is just what one wants. I have even performed a hard reset and obviously, deleted languages and apps are nowhere to be seen.
Flash and sprat are great at what they are intended: fill a hole in the desing of the Palm (rom+ram+flash memory in a single PDA).
So sad they have this hard-resetting problem. Fortunately for me, I had my first "spontaneous reset" just checking the new features of DocsToGo 6, and I use a backup program every day.

You do not want to delete VersaMail. There are 2 copies in ROM, the application and versaMail Extras. Removing it will cause Send (eg via Bluetooth) to fail. This is because VersaMail is one of the option available under the Send dialog.
There may be a workaround by deleting VersaMail's saved and unsaved preference (don't launch it again) then deleting it in JackSprat but I never tried it.
JS will delete ALL associated files so no mess is left behind for the application you delete. A good example is DocsToGo which has many components. JS will delete ALL it's files. Same goes with RealOne, Expense, Kinoma, Photos, NotePad etc. I moved WebPro into Flash with JF.
